Ill get flamed for this for sure but it felt right at the time.

Villain is an older black gentleman named richard, a longtime reg on the nottingham circuit. Very solid, conservative - a massive rock basically. Never bluffs.

I've been speaking to a few people about making small raises with small pairs in limped pots to juice the pot up. 8ppl limp for a pound to my bb and I make it 4 with 33. Everyone calls. Flop 443ss. I bet 4, obv hoping many people will call drawing dead. Only 2 call. Turn comes os6, I bet 15 now. Richard now mutter something about being worried about a flush draw (he's known for speech play) and I just felt he was pretending to be worried about a fd when infact he had a house already. So he raises 30more, I called just to see what he did on the river. River was a king and he jammed for 75. I just decided he had 43 66 or 64 and folded. Sigh

What did Richard show?

Folding when Richard jams is rarely wrong.

Surprised he didn't have KK or 44 minimum here.  Never mind, over the course of three years you might be able to win that money back off him Wink

Come run the hidden pine trails of the forest
Come taste the sunsweet berries of the Earth
Come roll in all the riches all around you
And for once, never wonder what they're worth

The rainstorm and the river are my brothers
The heron and the otter are my friends
And we are all connected to each other
In a circle, in a hoop that never ends

Impressed!

Another illusion shattered. Richard not only bluffs but sticks it in Alex's eye!

(Then again that might be his one bluff this decade) Smiley

Correct - he would have assumed his hand was good. Especially against Alex.

I much enjoyed meeting you at the weekend. I was a bit shocked at how young you were, though, wow. To be fair, when I was your age - which was like, 50 years ago (I jest not), I knew everything. If I knew half as much now as I did then, I'd be some clever bugger.

Yeah it was cool to meet you too. In fact I think you're one of the few regular posters on poker content that I hadn't actually met until the weekend!

Thank you. My first reaction when I was introduced to you was "is he old enough to be in a Casino?".

Not personal, it's just that the older I get, the younger others look.

Alex, fwiw, looks about 18 to me, & Simon D, well, 15 at best.  MBN.

Of course, by the same measurement criteria, please feel free to say I only look 40.

And by the same measurement criteria I am 12.

That reassures me. I can go back to believing Richard never bluffs now. Will be able to sleep well tonight Smiley

Correct - he would have assumed his hand was good. Especially when Alex threw his full house into the muck and Richard stuck his J4 into his eye.

Reminds me of a cash game at gala when I was dealing about 4/5 years ago now where noone could act unless they did so in a richard style. Nick hicks was in the game so will prob remember, but so was trickett and a few others. Everyone declaring 'me a got dem trip trees' and 'give dem cards a good shimmie dealah'. Rich of course enjoyed the good spirit of it too. Such a nice man. He'll def of thought his hand was good obv.

Hey Alex did Richard sing his song to you with his cheeky smile (Legend)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qMxX-QOV9tI&feature=fvwrel  Even Mitch was biggin Richard up earliar this week.
I noticed that Richard normally plays tight but on other nights his mood is different and he makes plays. Great chap imo.

Isn't Richards song something about catching a snapper?
