Gave the 150 another shot today, after busting yesterday QQ<TT aip for a big stack. Grinded 12 levels below average all day but couldn't win AK vs 88.
Keith and Keys give me a hard time saying that I don't put the effort into playing the smaller comps and just care about the big ones and it's just not true - I'm always playing those £150 comps and grinding the side events when we go abroad. My average buyin this year is £432, and I've played 3 1ks, and 10 <300s. Unfortunately they've not gone that well.
My total cashes in 2012 is a big fat 0. That's a bit shit, 13 comps, 0 cashes, hope that turns around hmmmm next week for the UKIPT!
They've backed me for a year now, looking back. I've played 41 tournaments, and cashed in 4, prefer the ratio to be a little higher but obv pleased with the results so far.
The comps I play for myself - online and the <£100 comps, have gone amazing though this year - up about $4k over like 50 tournaments online lol and £2300 from the 2 £50 comps I've played lol, ridic run goodaments!
***
In other news, I have two staking sweats tomorrow. One is my regular horse PJ who has grinded his little nuts off for about 8months under my backing now, yet to have a cash >1k lol REALLY is due a big score. He's really good and I'm so glad to have 100% rights to his action lol. He's got 1.5x average in the £150, nearish the money, with about 25bags ftw I expect.
The second could be a HUGEE score! Marc railtard Wright has 300k in the Irish Open, made day three, made the money, 50 people left. 1st place gets 420k and I have 15% which would net me about 60k if he wins! One time!
Tomorrow's gonna be a fun day on the rail!

trying to buy a domain from godaddy.com, says it's available on backorder, what does that mean? somebody already owns it? other people are interested? it says something about an auction process to see who wins it, but there's nowhere to enter bids or anything? vconfused :S

Spent the first 60 minutes folding every single hand, which I almost never do.
First hand I play is 77, which improved to quads by the river, and I doubled up off the samurai in a 2k pot. Mbn!

Enjoyable 2/5 session, but frustrating too. Was winning about 1.5k at my peak, finished only up £175.
The hands I lost were fine, did a big bluff that I think was unlucky not to work, my opponent had made an unlikely 2 pair with 97o having cold called an £85 3bet from the big blind...Understandably it was hard for me to put him on that, and I thought it much more likely he had a one pair hand which could never call the river.
Lost some more being outdrawn, in one I bet third pair for value/protection on the turn for £230 and got called in two spots by worse! I knew they both had draws but one got there on the river.
Then got into a pot with
where a fish bet £150 into £260 on the turn on
and I just HAVE to call here and pray to get there cos there's £900 waiting for me (plus what's already there) when it comes in (that I'm getting 100% of the time since he defo has a big pair and never ever ever folds). Mitch was behind me with
(peeled a 3bet ldo) and flats the turn and the river bricks and I have to sit and watch as he stacks the fish for £900 more! That was pretty frustrating!
Never mind, played much better today than I have been playing, and really enjoyed making quads and overbet jamming the river!
Off to York with Hannah tomorrow for a minibreak, hope it's good weather. Then it's the UKIPTEEEEEEEEEEEE!

If in York for the night, join this ghost walk. No others get close to being as much fun.

York? What?
You MUST visit this.....
http://www.nrm.org.uk/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Railway_Collection#National_Collection
The prize exhibit - obviously - is this beauty, which both my Gandad & Dad drove, & fired on. It is truly the world's greatest steam locomotive.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GWR_6000_Class_6000_King_George_V
When it went to America in 1927, my Grandad went with it, as the British Rail rep, & the Americans presented him with the commemorative brass bell which remains, to this day, on the front of the locomotive.

Hey Alex, titty bean was asking for cliffs on Sean's diary and was just gonna put "variance" as its a bit of a joke between Andy and me but left it whilst sean is feeling a bit sore.
Then I got to thinking a bit more about it after seeing you won a £2k pot off Nick last night thought I would come and see how you got on by the end of the night. To be sat with 6 mates for a high percentage of the time can only ever end in tears as you just can't all make a living from the game. There simply is not enough Leicester /Donny fish or whales with till like Walster or Neil to provide a decent long term income for you all. Playing big pots with mates of equal ability (I have no idea out of you, Mitch, hicks, Stato, the toms, Simon, pj and the others i dont know h as any edge) means that the money just gets pushed round the table falling into the rake box. Taking it to the extreme only 5% of players are gonna make a long term living from the game which is less than 1 person on two tables in Dtd.
I just don't see how it can work out and as far as game selection is concerned it seems a big -EV. Do you guys as a group ever think that you should not be playing each other but need to be looking for other games that you can all make a crust from?

Jason, saying you can't make money in tough games is wrong.
I actually have a lot of respect for the DTD boys, they are happy to start games in tougher line-ups so there is always a game if someone new wants to play, and they make the games fun for people and are happy to get stuck in vs themselves which encourages action from everyone. It's the right way to play, not nitty bumhunting like the guys from the DC game or about 75% of people who are "professional" poker players.
Poker isn't about finding a mug who can pay your wages as much as a lot of people who can only fail think it is.
Pretty sure they are all doing ok right now with it all, Alex + Stato playing a lot online as well which is good.
