speaking of classical music, i've been getting really into "Swan Lake" by Tchaikovsky since watching Black Swan the other night. I bought it from itunes the other night and listened to it loads. Even Stato said that he really liked it the other day, adding that he wished we listened to more classical music during sessions.

There are two stages of being old:

You know you are getting old when you describe a modern song as "just noise".

You know you are old when, when asked your age, you tell them how old you will be next year.

I'm still 0 for 2 there so all good.

Alex, are/were you at Cambridge Uni or is that where you were born and raised?

Born/raised. went to uni in nottingham

Ah OK. I was at Pembroke 2002-5. I actually started playing Texas Holdem there in what would probably be the Cambridge equivalent of Doyle/Puggy/Sailor/Amarillo Slim dodging the robbers and the police. Except we were playing for fivers and playing out of sight of the porters.

On reflection, nothing like them.

Also, we were rubbish.

It did at least give me an early insight into what it is like playing with "Mathmo"s.

Great city, tho. Loved it there.

Finally at last. Some classical stuff I have actually heard of and seen.

Really pumped for a big grind later! Game selecting really well in comps lately, playing smaller, much softer fields and it's yielding good results. Gonna have a big score soon I can feel it.

Got a 3rd today which made me decent winner on the session, then went to DTD and won £1.2k in a 2/5 game with a fun lineup. TERRY was back!!! Such a hero, so good for the game, not cause he's a bad player (he's not at all) but he gets people gambling, straddles, bluffs, sits deep etc - every game needs a "terry" imo. He's been away for 4 or 5 months I think, it's been ages since we saw him, he goes in spells - plays every night for a few months, then we don't see him for months on end, then he's back. Hopefully he'll help revive the games.

We ended up playing ROE for the last few hours - not at all confident in my plo, probably a -ev player at 10nl online, let alone 2/5/10/20 sat £2k deep! But I had to stay, the game was very splashy, I fancied my chances nut peddalling in the plo, and felt the holdem round was worth staying for even if I was a dog in the plo. I won a big pot off Terry opening QJJ8 single suited to £35, he made it £105 from the sb, I called. he bets £140 I call, turn he checks, I bet £350, he calls. River he checks (thank god), I check and win. That was a relief!

Got in £500 with KK vs Nick Hicks' JJ and held for another decent pot, but lost a big one with JJ vs Walster 98 on A839x, the river checked through, but I 4bet pre and cbet and called £265 on the turn when I perhaps could fold, but I didn't think he'd bet any Ax that he wouldn't get in pre on the turn and felt a flush draw was more likely, the only value hand I lose to is A9 or 89 so I think he's repping pretty thin. Anyway, not too much damage done.

Really enjoyable game and actually my best winning day for over a month!

That sounds somewhere between ominous and creepy!
