OOh, I forgot to add, enjoy the rest of your poker in Barca.

So many people say they adore Barcelona, but after 8 or 10 trips, I'll never grace its shores again. The queues to Register for a Tourney, or join a cash game,  the problems getting a taxi late at night, walking solo along Las Ramblas in the early hours, dodging the pimps & drug dealers & suchlike. Not for me, ever again, but we all see these things differently.

So yesterday turned into a pretty cool day.

It was the first proper grind day of the trip. Was feeling very lazy before, August has been one of my worst ever months volume-wise.

It wasn't going so well when again I spent 6 hours on the cash game waiting list before getting a seat in 5/10. My name hadn't event appeared on the board for the 3/6 list!

I only had an hour to play because of the satellite, and I was card dead in that hour so was pretty tilting to wait for 6 hours, finally get a game, fold for an hour then lose my seat!

BUT it was worth it cos I binked a seat for the main in the 500c yay.

Missed the players party which was annoying cos everyone was there (including Victoria) and really wanted to have a night out in Barca, but got there after the sat and wasn't allowed in in my shorts Sad

It was 2am and just went home, taking Fred and Victoria with me.

Fred was absolutely smashed and when a man approached him asking if he'd like to buy a rose for Victoria, Fred decided to spend 60 euros buying the mans entire stock!

Video here:

Mitch gets back a bit later and immediately requests Victoria makes him a sandwich. He likes to try and imitate her accent...

Good times and got a day off now before the main on Monday Smiley

@tikay, yes that's Harry. Family friend since I was born and Godfather to Mark.

He's been to Tuscany with us a few times and of you really are a regular follower of his column then you'll remember he actually wrote his column about it two years ago! Including a piece about yours truly. I'm sure Dad won't have trouble digging it out of the archives and ill post it here.

Speaking of which, Dad did something hilarious in Tuscany. It typifies him soooo well, it was absolutely classic.

So this guy comes over for dinner one night, not sure of how he was connected but he was this big shot oil guy and apparently all he was going on about was Fracking, and how it's so amazing, it's the future etc. He was very pompous and obnoxious and even asked Stephen (brother of Dads partner, a poet) to write him a poem about Fracking! And saying that he'd give him commission, in a way like he assumed Stephen was a struggling poet that needed his 'charity'.

Obv Stephen declined, but Dad took it upon himself to write him one, basically rinsing him but in a sick clever way - and it's pretty hilarious. I have a copy so will share with you:

Our Ancestors' Lives were regrettably Lacking
Our Homes ranged from Caves to the Flimsiest Shacking
Our Days were composed then of Hunting and Tracking ...
       For we Never once Dreamt of the Glories of Fracking.

We Moved on to Sailing, with Canvas and Sacking,
And Drake gave the Spanish a Vigorous Smacking;
With Weaving and Ducking and Gybing and Tacking ...
       We Still hadn't Heard that the Future is Fracking.

Our Teenagers Recently Focus on Hacking,
Identity Theft and the Fun of Hi-Jacking;
Their Shapes are obese, they are Constantly Snacking ...
       Their Message is Not that the Future is Fracking.

But E.T. now Comes, with formidable Backing,
To Tell us our Lives now are Vitally Lacking:
The Shelves down at Tesco have No need of Stacking ...
       If we Dance with the Glorious Concept of Fracking!

But Where is my Home now the Floor's showing Cracking?
The Mortgage man Soon will be Sending me Packing
Alas that we listened – those Men and their Yakking! ...
       Let's Try to forgive the promoters of Fracking!
