Gotta go to Denver for work for a week at the end of April so am thinking about a sneaky side trip before hand, not having to pay for flights is the incentive to go. Just wondering if anyone else will be there at the same time for a night or two out on the piss? Been to Vegas too many times now so don't think I can be arsed just going by myself and sitting at a poker table for a week..........

Have to be in Denver for the 29/30th April, so will be the week before that leaving uk on 22nd (Good Friday). In two minds about the whole thing really, I would like to go for 2 or 3 days but know I'll be bored after that, can't face a week there. I might just do something totally different we'll see............... Lips Sealed

Right, I am going for a few days after all. Getting there on the 21st April and will probs leave on the 25th, the WSOP circuit events have swayed me. Gonna do a 4 day road trip to Denver after Vegas and some photography on the way. Sooooooooooo 2 things.

1. If anyone else is in Vegas and fancies going out on the piss let me know
2. Anyone know anything about what the hell is in between Vegas and Denver? Looks like The Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon and The Rockies are obvious places for a bit of photography. Any info on just about anything for that trip would be useful. Route, hotels, stuff to see with photography in mind etc.

TY in advance

Zion national park is in Southern Utah as well, which is meant to be stunning. Colorado springs? Salt Lake City?

I presume you are going to go to the Northern Rim, if you go to the Southern Rim and Arizona. You can do the old route 66. The red rocks of Sedona (and the road from Flagstaff to get there) I would highly recommend, pretty stunning part of the world.

Think salt lake city might be just too far out the way looking at the map, I dunno need to look into it more closely. Yeah Zion is on my list too forgot to mention.

Have no idea about the GC north/south whatever, the bit on the Utah/Ariziona border look the most sensible and accessible bit, which might rule out the flagstaff route, is it that good? If I do my bollocks in Vegas I'll probs leave a day earlier so that gives me more time lol, but I do fancy having a punt at the WSOP circuit events.

I did the Southen rim when I went, which is where the vast majority of people go to see the canyon. There are lot more facilites and the like there. The Northern rim is a lot more remote and it is long way round to go to both.

The Flagstaff to Sedona road goes through Oak Creek Canyon where it drops a few thousand feet in not many miles. The rest of Arizona is a bit yawn though, Phoenix bored the crap out of me.

Well the direct route to Denver is via the northern route, I don't really give a shit about facilities too much I can make do with the absolute min. I guess what I'm saying is, is it really worthwhile the extra effort of the southern route for photography purposes as it is quite a way further? Unless you have been both you won't know I'm guessing?

+1 to Zion National park,It's like driving through a a John Ford western.

Northern rim of the Grand canyon isn't supposed to be as scenic as the southern rim but I still thought it was jaw dropping and was pretty much deserted when i was at the viewing points.

Remember Utah is a Mormon state and finding a bar can prove difficult.I had an interesting evening drinking with the St George Police Dept.

That guy I mentioned in the other thread you posted about Denver has driven to Vegas a couple times from Breck. I'll speak to him the next time he's online and see if he's got anything of use to you

That would be very useful mate ty. I've got an idea of where I want to go, I'm just trying to proritise what is practical without rushing it and checking I haven't missed anything.

We didn't rate Zion. Not a patch on Yosemite.

Too far from Yosemite, so I've just got to consider what's en-route. I can't believe its that bad, most think its worth a visit, do you not agree?
