Its a faders course so you won't see me backing mcilroy, although the weather forecast is good so that would take most of that impact out of the equation and mcilroy could smash it straight all the way round and win. If the wind blows McIlory will not win, official.

Kenneth James Choi has big big chances imo.

Count out Donald as well if it's windy.

For a variety of reasons I don't like any of the top 10 in the betting so will be getting involved more heavily than usual: Manassero, Mahan, Bill Haas, Yang and Choi all E/W at best prices.

I'm already on Dustin Johnson at 80's from a while back and I'm probably going to back Spencer Levin as well.

a few people saying yang but i think he will struggle here, his distance off the tee will be an issue. Getting position is easier if you can fly a lot of the trouble here.

Just took a look at the prices in this market and Boyles have been very clever imo with this 1/4 odds first eight promo.  They are not top priced on their own about any individual player and only joint top priced about two rags.  Meanwhile other firms have some really great promos like Hills moneyback (and they are top price about the top ten in the betting) if your player misses the cut or a combination of decent prices and generous place terms.  Boyles will probably get more money than they deserve in reality.

Yeah this is just a gimmicky offer, no real value in it imo. All the local Coral shops have an amazing offer, stake a tenner get a tenner free. Supposedly one per customer but after going to all the shops and sending a few mates in to all the shops I have managed to get 250 + 250 free on all already :-)

Where is local???  incidentally I thought that their 1/3 odds first five was pretty generous.

why do you think this Ace, he holds the record at portrush a 62 i believe he won all the Irish amateur championships which are all held on links courses and its nearly allways windy in Ireland, he also secured his card by finishing 3rd (i think) in the dunhill links  just after he turned pro. is it because he shot 80 at st Andrews when he got the worst of the draw? I think he can handle wind just fine.

Because he hits high straight or small draw shots about 99% of the time. He doesn't seem to have the knock down shots, low cuts, the funky improvised shots you need to get round if the wind gets up. Loads of the holes require a fade to make the tee shot or 2nd shot easier, thats not his natural shot and its hard to do that for 4 rounds.

In the amateur ranks he was just streets ahead of the others, he was playing like a man against boys so you can't say that offers any sort of form guide imo.

He might win but he won't dominate.

So far I'm on Mahan ew @ 85+17, Baddeley @ 230, Villegas @ 290, and Sabbatini @ 350.

Got a couple more as yet unmatched.

I've tended to look for lower ball-hitters and home-made swings that will be adaptable to the (hopefully) testing conditions. The current forecast is for c20 mph winds on Thurs/Fri and windy with showers for Sat.

I'm almost ready.

I always thought villegas could win an open but he's lost the edge a bit lately. I just don't see Mahan as a major winner and he's another Drawrer of the ball so i don't fancy him personally.

I did a couple of early bets for The Open - I fear Stricker and Zach will have a good week this week in the states so possibly shrewd to back them now before that happens, we shall see how that works out but anyway....

Stricker @ 65
Zach @ 200

I have a few other orders in, gonna have a big stable come tee off time on the thursday morn!

Really looking forward to it lets just hope Rory dosen't turn it into a procession again.

Added a couple more so it looks like....

Stricker @ 65
Zach @ 200
Y.E Yang @ 110/120
Kuchar @ 65

More to follow....
