No - it is an active traffic management system. On occasions the signs aboive the road show a speed limit below 70 with the red cirle around it and when they are on the cameras seem to come on and they are behind the signs that are above the road. When the limit is the default 70 they don't seem to work. I got done by one on the M42 once.

No the signs are electronic and above the road. You only notice them when they are lit. When they aren't lit then they show nothing.....if that makes sense???

Ahh in that case I couldn't be sure Iwas thinking closer to Luton....but sounds like the same thing. IIRC all motorway speedway cameras in UK (except through roadworks) are these things that are behind the dot matrix over the road signs. You can't actually see the camera unless you get flashed.

Yeah as i understand it they only turn on when there is a variable speed limit, if its national limit the cameras are off, if that wasn't the case i would have about 257469 points by now.

I know of someone who didn't realise there were cameras and sped through 8 in a row on the M42, insta gg license, £600 fine and 18 month ban I think
