It would be nice if they announced the comings and goings.

Do people who have been dropped really want the site to be publicising their demise. I know it all comes out in the end, but I am not sure I would want it on the stars site for example. Seems like a bit of a rub.

Wish them well for the future, thank them for their efforts blah de blah.

I hope they drop Humberto and Ramdin next.

Won my biggest ever live pot off Ramdin in the PCA about 3 or 4 years ago. Paid for a couple of holidays that fker did, tyvm Victor  thumbs up

Pah, I'm shyte at remembering hands, especially from that long ago. But a $10/20 game playing deepish, I flopped a set of 2's, in a multiway pot on a K high board with 2 hearts. Ramdin had AK hearts, another guy had KQ. Loads of action on the flop, KQ got out the way on the turn to an all in from me and Ramdin called, he missed and I shipped around $9k I think.

Played with a ton of the 'names' that night as they were all jumping into the game while waiting for the $25/50, which was the biggest game running that year I think.

Botswana and Namibia safaris ftw after that  Grin

A friend of mine is doing a dissertation on celebrity endorsement in online poker advertising at the moment. He has invited me along at the weekend to a focus group on this on Saturday.

So,

Who do you think is good value
Who do you think isn't
Who do you reckon would be a good pick for a sponsorship from a decent online site (who doesn't already have one)

Reasons why?

Also

General thoughts on online poker site sponsoring

Who do you think is good value
Anyone who brings with them a ready made target audience of potential new players. So sports stars, actors, musicians, attractive people and people from underrepresented poker demographics.

And Phil Hellmuth, regrettably.

Who do you think isn't
Talented male poker professionals

Who do you reckon would be a good pick for a sponsorship from a decent online site (who doesn't already have one)
This is surely the same as question one?

General thoughts on online poker site sponsoring
Put more money into in house promotions instead OR sponsor players who rake high/show loyalty to the site as an incentive.

My bad, Q1 was aimed at currently sponsored pros.

Who do you think is good value?
Liv Boree - Babe, (gets her pics in the tabloids, [+ wins EPT's], good for new sign ups) (advertising her 1st in astrophysics from Manchester is a double edged sword, it suggests that either only very clever people make money in the game, or that it is a +ev prospect that bright people find it worthwhile to participate in)
Shane Warne - Always in the papers - often with 888's name associated with him
Tony Cascarino
Steve Davis - Housewives favourite giving an air of respectability
Boris Becker - might be rubbish at poker but gets in the media a lot and mentions poker.
Once players are into the game - the sponsored players are irrelevant, liquidity, fishy players, customer service, MTT schedule etc etc are far more important. If you only play on Stars you are hardly going to switch to FTP to play against Phil Ivey as a) he will win and take your money and b) he will be playing at stakes you cant afford.

Who do you think isn't?
Everyone "poker player", except maybe Phil Ivey, DN, Doyle, PhilH, Durrrr

Who do you reckon would be a good pick for a sponsorship from a decent online site (who doesn't already have one)?
Tim Henmon, Bill Gates, Obama, Rooney, Kira Knightley

Reasons why?
Advertise the game to the mass market to bring in new players, make it attractive and respectable.

That is a big suprise, I would have thought there would have been some sort of 'dont join FTP' clause in most contracts even after expiration.

this shows FTP is intent on taking stars on head to head. FT have been stopping some of their players from playing certain stars event. Stars dominate the live scene but i think full tilt have most of the tv  coverage of late. Think stars have dropped the ball with raymer and tilt have picked up a good man. Who next? Julian thew imo
