Hi All

I don't venture out playing live poker too often but would like to start playing a bit more regularly.
The thing I stuggle with is peoples stack sizes. I am quite colour bllind and find it difficult to differentiate between the denominations.
I wondered if perhaps I should take a notepad or even use the iPhone to track everybodies stack size. The games are usually slow enough so it should be reasonably accurate.
Do you think this would be frowned upon?

I don't think there'd be a problem using a notepad and pen to track the stack sizes.

There are no rules against that, as far as I know?

sounds like a nightmare to do but I guess you'd soon get the hang of it. abs nothing wrong with using pen and paper but the iphone could fall foul of some cardrooms' phones at the table rule though that's generally only enforced for voice calls so you should be fine

The guy in The Cincinatti Kid did it and Lancy didn't complain.

you're more than within your rights to ask everyone how many chips they have

my eyesight is pretty good but as soon as I get more involved in a hand (as in desicions need to start being made) I just ask how many chips they have roughly

people get pissed of with you but they are out of line because how many chips you're playing for in a given situation is a pretty crucial piece of info

DW about notepads IMO, just ask whenever you want to and if someone starts bithcing just tell em to jump lol (or explain to people the first time you do it you a bit colour blind and apologise if you irratate anyone - that might be better lol)

whilst im ranting lol, the other thing that annoys me more than anything is when i say "how much you got roughly" and they say "more than you"

thanks, that was EXACTLY wat i was asking wasnt it. grrrr jkhjkfhjkhgfhfgjfjks

because the information is important.

If they have more than you then you can just count your own stack and voila! You have effective stack sizes

effective stack sizes aren't neccessarily what's important.

If they are re-jamming and risking x amount against the rest of the table you need to know what x amount is to have all the information you need to make your decision.

this this and more this, baffles me how people dont get it

if i have 10k and you have 15k, surely anyone can see how this is a vastly different situation to me having 10k and you having 50k
