I've backed Australia outright, they still have a decent one day team and they whipped us and we were supposed to be a serious contender this year.

I've back SA for most 6's, fancy they have a deep run and they have so many six hitters they have to be the pick of the group behind India.

Anything else for anybody?

Not betting, but based on the available odds I'd go for SA at 11/2

south africa's bowling attack is usually shit hot, may struggle on the sub continant, and they dont really have a class spinner which will be vital

Really looking forward to this. The old World Cup programmes on Sky Sports have been great stuff.

Not had a bet yet, but i think it's between Sri Lanka and India.

my real cricket loving friends reckon its really open this year, genuinely 6 teams could win, so india offer no value.

I thought Sri Lanka would be the value, but the bookies seem wise to it. They have priced as I would India>Sri Lanka> SA> Aus> Rest.

Not a fan of the format, too many meaningless matches that go on for forever then a straight KO which will be the nut games, sigh.

Prefer 4 groups of 3 then another group stage of 2 of 4, then semis then final. Something like that obv means reducing the comp to 12 teams, but there are only 9 competitive teams rly.

Ten years ago the cricket World Cup was great, really something to look forward to.

But 20:20 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 50 over game and this tournament really doesn't have the lustre it used it imo.

I thought it would be sweet until I realised how long it went on for.

Goes on for far too long, but lots of trading opportunities.

Have backed NZ at 24 with a view to trading later on.
Also going to look at backing Bangladesh if they get beat by India tomorrow, again with a view to trading.  I think they will surprise a few teams.

Very open tournament though and difficult to pick a winner at this stage.

Dont fancy England at all though.

Sri Lanka for me would appeal, local conditions lots of batting, good slow bowlers but 4/1 too short

Can't fancy England out there, India too short

Pakistan on their day, at 15/2 outright, but unbackable given their day depends on many non cricketing factors!

WI at 20/1 for a sporting run please

I like the look of the 9/1 on Michael Yardy to be top England bowler.
