Steak will cook more evenly and at a more consistent temperature thoughtout under a grill. The pan provides instant heat so you can seal the steak, keeping the flavours and juices in- for like 30-45secs, and then under grill.
The reason souz vide cooking is far superior for nearly all meats imo is you can obviously cook the meat to an exact temperature and dont bring it to 130degrees in a 200degree oven etc. The only problem souz vide cooking steak is you still need to char the edges after you have done quickly to add texture- For Chicken you simply cant ever beat souz vide, it has an amazing taste that you just dont experience any other way. It melts in the mouth, and you do the same thing as the steak by charring it in the pan before serving to add texture

Ok. Will let you have the honours and go first.
We're about to deep fry some chocolate bars using the left over oil.

And mine. Two pics. First one plated up. Then cut open part way through cooking to see how well cooked: Click to see full-size image. |

it was medium rare - 2.5 mins on each side. looks a lot less well done in the pic than it did in reality (otherwise i'd have cooked it a bit longer, obv )

Claw needs to have sealed the edges a touch more and rendered the fat a little bit more.
CF- if you switched to the grill, you wouldnt have black char bits on it, thats just where the fat and sweet marinade is overrendering in a hot pan
I like the colour constrast with the rocket- Claw needs to have made the peas more predominant if its a presentation battle- they are lost in the monotone of the chips and onion rings

Claw's chips are an easy win imo. Golden and a good size.
Both steaks look good, however, cf's is hidden by charred marinade and Claw's is not Med Rare.
Tough one, but I think I'll go for Claire's chips as the deciding factor!

Was a bit dissapointed with the colour of my chips. And the potatos we had were smaller than i'd have liked. That said... it's the first time i've ever made chips! So quite happy that they at least tasted nice
