Would appreciate any thoughts on this.

Aberdeen G Casino has recently started allowing 1 x "Re-entry" during the first 3 levels of selected freeze-outs.  Presently, the re-entry does not count as an added runner but as an add-on which has split opinions on whether that is correct or not.  One corner believes that it should count as an add-on and not an additional runner (keeping payouts relative to original entries) whereas others believe that as a re-entry, a player is treated the same as a new player (joins wait list, pays reg fee, seat redraw etc) so his re-entry is treated exactly the same as say a late entry, and affects pay out structure accordingly.
Cardroom software I am told does not handle re-entries so they go on as an add-on and pay out stays relative to original entries but this could be manually changed I would think.  Re-entries are more common in Vegas where I am fairly sure they are treated as an added runner.

Any thoughts? And apologies if you were expecting a juicier post from the title.....

Re-entry should be an added runner. Otherwise it's a 1x re-buy tourney.

Defo has to be a added runner cause in a re-entry you Pay the juice again and surley the casino is taxed on that juice so needs to be noted

In a 1x re-buy tournament you have to rebuy immediately or be eliminated. With re-entry I assume this is not the case, can get knocked out, go have a drink and a smoke and then buy back in?

Wouldn't bother me either way, so long as it was clear what way they do it at the start of the comp and it's reasonably consistant week in week out. (The odd change in response to players demands is fine, so long as they don't do it mid comp)
If I had to pick I'd plump with the option that keeps prize pool top heavy.

There is no 'correct' imo when it comes to stuff like this, only what other people do.

I think it's more down to the fact that the actual 'Card Room Magic' system doesn't presently let any one individual be in the tournament more than once, and so it has to be put on the system as an add-on for the purposes of displaying correct chips in play/prize money information.

In so far as I am aware, it's something that the CardRoomMagic team are developing.

Is it just me or are these things becoming more prevalent and a bit annoying.  I am convinced that they reduce prize pools.

Pretty sure that's not true as every Casino in Newcastle (Aspers, G, Circus) now has re-entry games running on CardRoomMagic, that works correctly - as in they re-enter and pay the juice again, player count increments by 1, and doesn't add a rebuy/addon tally to the system.
