Stu, whatever you get make sure it won't go out of fashion any time soon. I have two expensive watches that I don't even wear now because of that. Not buying another one for that to happen again, I just buy cheap fakes now and change them as I fancy or when they break.

Rolex ftw

Mine keeps pretty crappy time and £250 a pop for servicing, I'd look elsewhere.

Because the newer ones look a hell of a lot better. I'd rather wear a fake new one and replace it with ones I like better whenever I fancy it. I'm obv not going to buy a real one each time I see a new one I like.

Where do you get your watches Woodsey?

I've always been loath to spend money on a watch as I'm a clumsy drunk and always end up smashing them Cheesy

Wiiiiiii... I'm pretty excited for you Stu.

The watch you've posted in your opening post is pretty nice, and I think it's a good choice.

I have the Calibre S (SLR Limited Edition Version). http://www.tagheuer.com/the-collection/carrera/men/calibre-s-laptimer-chrono/index.lbl?w=CV7A10.BA0795 I'm pretty happy with mine, and it's a cool watch. I'm not a big fan of Monaco's, but obviously each to their own. I think the Carreras, like the one you and I have posted, are the way forward.

I'm also a pretty massive Breitling fan, but more so, the Breitling for Bentley editions. http://www.breitlingforbentley.com/en/series/motors/bentley-gmt-presentation-1-1 This is like one of my favourite ones, and I'm hoping to get one in the near future!

Wildcard - Audemars Piguet. It's a bit more exclusive, not as common. Their watches are a bit different from style that Tag Heuer usually do, but I think they have a really good range, and you might find one that you like. http://www.audemarspiguet.com/ Another one, Patek Philippe. I don't really know much about their watches, but I have heard they are pretty good. Might be worth looking into when you are bored in the office.

Rolexs - not a fan at all. I think Rolex is just a name these days. They're obviously good watches, but I think there's so much other stuff out there that's much better, especially considering the price you will be paying for a long term timepiece. I generally think Rolexs suit the older generation much more, and think I might be happy to have one when I'm 65.

Out of interest, are you bothered about the strap? Does it need to be metal, leather, rubber, etc?

Also, I'm guessing this is going to be case anyway, but a couple of watches I have seen just seem so different on the internet when compared to in person. I really suggest going to a good store, such as Watches of Switzerland, and take a look and see what you like in person. Obviously, you can take down model numbers and see if you can get a better deal elsewhere. Lastly, not sure if you was with us when we went into this store in Vegas last year, but their collections were fantastic. If you are likely to be going this year, see if you can hold out. It probably will be cheaper too, but not 100% sure on this.

AP and PP are certainly both great watches but I can't see anyone looking at Tags being in the market for either of those

This is definitely true some of the time, however a lot of people who buy good quality timepieces, don't really know much beyond Tags, Rolex, and other brands which are stocked in their local Ernest Jones. Stu is definitely baller enough to be sporting a Audemars.
