The Listener runs in The Dipper 'chase at Cheltenham tomorrow for which he will be a short(odds-on) favourite.

This is IMO the most talented novice 'chaser to emerge since my all time favourite horse, One Man.

If I owned him, I would be thinking seriously about having a tilt at the Gold Cup this year.
I know it sounds a little far fetched, but looking at the Gold Cup field I don't see too much
with real class apart from Kicking King, and he has not really shown last year's level of form.
The rest are not much better than good handicappers and if the going for the festival were
to come up good to soft (a bit of a longshhot in itself) I would be very tempted to go for
the Gold Cup itself rather than the Sun Alliance 'chase (the novice's equivalent).

So hoping for favourable going, a fit horse and owners with the same idea as me I have made a speculative wager.

The Listener to win the Cheltenham Gold Cup 2006.

I managed to get just over 400/1 on Betfair, so my £15 investment would net me a tidy £6k.

Go on my cocker !

good luck mate, it is indeed a very good horse but the ground wont come right for it at cheltenham.

if it wins tomoz it will shorten for everything, so ya could green out

hopefully connections will say after the race that the gold cup is a possibility and the odds will come crashing down, so you can green out for more.

here's hoping

The very last hand of the night goes to Dewi James, who finds ACES and talks Raymond O’Mahoney into calling his all-in preflop bet of 15k.  “If I had AQ, I’d call!” says Dewi.  Raymond calls holding pocket 66’s.

Hard to say Silo, I would imagine that he would hold an entry for the GC even as a precaution.

He was not as spectacular today as in his last race, but he was giving the 2nd and 3rd horses a stone each !

The ground was described as "horrible" by the jockey which would not have helped.

Fingers crossed and await developments.

PS I laid a bit @ 70 so I now have a bet of £5k+ to £1.50  Cheesy

That was before the race Rob, it was laid as low as 50.

You've got to be on your mettle, the market is moving constantly.  dad dont dance

PS If you click on the name of the horse you can see all the trading that has taken place
