tank what time do you actually play? would love to watch you play after reading this post for so long - if you don't mind of course - is it "tigmong" on stars?

Can't promise it being that much more enthralling than watching an undercoat of Dulux dry to be honest, especially in the early levels. I usually turn chat off so will be unlikely to respond to any aaayyyyyaaarrrrrr's or similar. (Not just being rude)

Recently I've been logging most of my hours between 1am and 11am.

Aye, tis tigmong on stars. Shan't be back till Monday as I have to get well sloshed at the blonde bash or risk losing my reputation.  Cool

Days 76, 77 and 78 : Loads of folk at the bash said how they were fans of the thread and to keep it up. Thanks everyone, I'll try.

I went to bed on Sunday, wimping out of the blonde bash finale on Sunday night at Cincins. It had been a very busy few days and I felt I had nowt left.

Early to bed means early to rise so I woke up still having enough time to sqeeze in a batch during the play zone. With 2,096 tournaments still to play, I'll have to fit in these batches wherever I can.

Days 76, 77 and 78 Results : -$672 (+$10,099.5 total)
ROI : 8.2% (after 1,904 tournaments played)

Looking back though I see that it was after BlondeBash one that I went on a huge downswing.

Wasn't planning on updating until tomorrow, but after a piss-poor batch of 30, I thought I'd come along and state that I really hope this doesn't happen again. Ooo-errrr

I've just read through this whole thread (slack 2 hours at work - plus attentive reading (&re-reading!)).

It's excellent.

This is somewhat of an invasive question.  I apologise in advance.

If you have no other work outside of poker, and your winnings are $10k, you must be living on somewhat of a shoestring.

I admire your committment but is this realistic long term?

$10k is about £5700.

Or about £2000 a month - tax free.

That's not too bad is it, certainly wouldn't call it a shoestring - plenty of people will be living on less!

tanks only 78 days  into this and as Bongo says he's made about £5,700 which would work out around  £26,790 year, i agree with Bongo that this certainly aint a shoe string, i wish i could win this much

Well done Tank!

Hope the success continues

£2K a month tax free is living on a shoestring? We must have had some serious inflation since I last watched the evening news.

Thanks for taking the time to read the whole thread cantona, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Others have told me that I'm not really doing that well, your question is a valid one. This ain't a show-off diary though, rather a true tale of poker grind.
Some people make more, some people make less, I'm happy enough and just trying to do the best I can.

As Bongo and Rusty say, the $10k ain't too bad. I've just finished getting myself sorted in the first 10 weeks with what tournaments to play and how many at a time, on what hardware to play them on and how to get it all to work properly.
The number of tournaments I've played, although it looks like a big number hasn't really involved breaking too much of a sweat. Certainly easily sustainable.

The current ROI is 8.2%, after 10,000 I'll get a better idea of it's true value but I'm confident that it will be at least this.

In 8 hours I can now play 60 tournaments easily.
A 5-day week playing 300 tournaments, that's $1,476 a week.
With 12 weeks holiday, I could still grind out £33k in sterling a year.

In addition to this, I'll be racking up the equivalent of £6 per hour in bonuses at the Supernova level.
These bonuses will pay for all my holiday flights and accomodation. Also buying me into a few large poker events where any cash finish will bump up the yearly earn quite nicely.

I have other plans too though, don't worry. (some not including flops turns and rivers would you believe!)
I understand there are major drawbacks to what I do as well as advantages, I wouldn't want to play online poker as a main source of income forever.
However, there's nothing stopping me doing it just now for a few years while I'm young and travelling the world while I'm at it.

I've probably shared a bit too much in this post/thread, but hey-ho. I'm a very open chap.

I know the idea of doing this was to play more and get VIP Points but I was wondering why you havent doubled the entry fee of the tournaments, so you can make more?   At $200 per tourney you could also halve the time you spent and make around the same, assuming your edge goes up with you.  or you could reduce the number of tables if you need to concentrate more.   I cannot imagine your strategy getting exposed and beat at one level above.    Just curious how you have resisted the temptation....

£26k a year tax free is about £40k a year in true earnings, i think you have done very well, especially as you have stayed at $100.

£26k a year is cracking money - tax free.

Do you think you could earn a greater ROI elsewhere though, tank?  Or as Pokerron says, move up a level?

I find my results are better at $200 STT than $100 STT.  Still, whatever works enough for you to be happy with.  GL.

I tried the higher limit and found a greatly reduced edge.
Certainly can't play 6 $105s comfortably. I believe I can make more playing 6 $55s than fewer at the higher limits.

Would prefer to just play out the 4,000 at the $55s and then go from there.

I'm not sure if i've posted yet in this thread but have read every word.  Rather than hiding away I thought I should add my commendations on your perseverence.

I hope you continue to build on your ROI and I am looking forward to an exciting conclusion as you hammer home the final tournos!

I'll see you in Cardiff and will buy you a respectful beer!

Even better earnings at $55 level, nice one.   I don't blame you for finding out what works and sticking with it.   I guess the time to think about mixing it up is at the start of  '4,000 STTs in 4 months II' Wink

Very nice thread tank, hope to see you at World Series of Poker this year.

Have you ever considered playing cash with that roll?  You could comfortably two-table 2/4 NL and I'd imagine you could make more money, I hated the grind of STT's when I used to play them so just wondered if you've considered it.  I will never get bored of cash as I mix a few multi-tables in as well, which I find a lot more exciting.  I no longer play STT's.

I'll certainly be there WellChief. Whether I'm playing or not remains to be seen.
Well done on your seat, great result.

My NL cash game needs adjustment before I can rely on it as an income.
Working on it is on my list of things to do after the mission. After going on holiday but before cleaning out the oven.
