Just as long as Flannagan v Mathews goes ahead I'll be happy. Rigo a nice bonus though.

Browne fails a drug test

Sigh. I'd tremendous respect for the balls on Lucas Browne. After a 3rd round accidental clash of heads any sane man would of taken a technical draw against Bahoeli but with his eye lid hanging off Lucas Browne says nah mate I want to fight on and knock this guy out. It was like Ricky Hatton had discovered Australia's hardest man and turned him into the slow crude effective monster of a boxer.

The fight went down in Russia and we've heard dodgy stories from there but he was tested by VADA, the more credible organisation. The other one being USADA who took big money from Floyd.

https://www.steroid.com/Clenbuterol.php The drug he tested positive for enhances breathing and acts as a fat burner. Browne openly admitted his breathing wasn't great, plus he was far slimmer and spritely in the Chagaev bout so the shoe certainly fits.

What's the general feeling on importance of different boxing organisations?

Is it:

WBC
WBA
IBF
WBO?

The already more credible WBC now routinely VADA test every fighter contesting their world title belt.

On the other hand, and with comical timing (a couple of hours after Baz's post), the WBA tweeted Lucas Browne as being their boxer of the month.

Well I suppose he would say that. Also conveniently ignoring the fact that clenbuterol improves breathing.

There are inconsistencies in that statement. If you are clean, and your team take sufficient precautions, then you won't fail a drugs test in the first place.

Then there's the part you can speculate on. "I've never even heard of that drug before." Spend 10+ years as a man mountain gym bunny (prior to discovering boxing) and there's a significant likelihood you've overheard chatter of clenbuterol and other common PED's, even if you yourself are not into that sort of thing.

As soon as news broke he had failed the test it was obvious that he was going to allege foul play as he was fighting in his opponents backyard in deepest darkest Russia but I don't buy it sadly.

It always makes me laugh when athletes, boxers etc claim to know less about PEDs than the man in the street.

At least we've got Brook-Bizier and Campbell-Sykes to look forward to.

Both value if you like a short one.

Jnr v Blackwell should be a decent scrap. Jnr will have too much class but Blackwell is a really tough kid and Eubank doesn't have massive one punch power.  Spike took a lot of shots flush and kept coming for more but was woefully outclassed. The gulf between Blackwell and Jnr won't be as wide and Blackwell will be much smarter in there with the excellent Gary Lockett in his corner. O8.5 at 19/20 looks good as does the 11/4 Eubank points.

Overs looks a good round too low and worthy of TFT. As does Jr points which is shortening. As for Spike, his story of a perforated ear drum checks out in which case he ran pretty far below EV.

I'm surprised Ward isn't shorter. I've also backed him to win by KO at 12/5. He doesn't stop many but Barrera looks very easy to hit to me.

Fancy Brook in rounds 4-6 at 2/1 tonight, also having a bet on round 4.

Jr on points looks a good bet too.

Patrick Power are the only bookie to have priced up sub markets on Adam 'The Bomber' Etches vs Zoltan Sera. The Hungarian late stand in specialist got stopped towards the end of round 3 versus Liam Smith and Joe Selkirk down at light middle. Heavy handed Etches has a track record of taking these sort of guys out early.

All thats been priced up is round betting:

Rd1 10-1
Rd2 15/2
Rd3 6-1
Rd4 6-1

Dutching 1-3 pays 9/5 and 1-4 pays evens. I'd set the pick em line at 2.5 or 3.

Note it's the float fight not an 8pm start as listed by oddschecker. PP should have up odds till the fight starts.

Normally I like my heavyweights but I've not had a stab at the 2 fights tonight.

Gavern is a survivor but ain't fully recuperated from surgery, archilles I think it was. Guinn too is a survivor but sported a fair old gut at the weigh in.
