What do u think a out the full tilt pros?

Obv his antics were abit of tounge and cheek.

I doubt he was ever bad fOr the game
He is com and makes good tv
He will do more for poker then you ever will

Hitler did more for German people than I ever will. How is that a legitimate point?

The FT pro's still wearing a patch are morons imo. Difference is at this stage we still don't know the full truth. We all know what UB did and despite this he continued to wear a patch and take money from them.

If you're one of those who loves his "bad boy" antics that's up to you. I personally don't which is why I enjoy seeing the self-proclaimed greatest fail yet again to take down a tournament.

He's the best poker player in the world (his words, not mine) and he lost heads up with a 3:1 CL. lolz

Don't say that to James Keys.

Iv met PH, dealt to him at the WSOPE. He got 1 outered, stood up, shook everyones hand including mine and left without a word.

He is a model professional away from the cameras. I respect him for that. He knows that if he does what he does he'll get attention which leads to deals and money. What's wrong with that?

you guys knocking Helmuth are a joke .
holds most bracelet wins and 40 odd wsop final table finishes. loud and obnoxious maybe but he's probably the most recognized face in poker with most definately the best wsop record. his online sponsorship deal that made him millions . dodgy site maybe .
have the full tilt sponsored players made a better choice of online site .. time will tell but probably not. these guys have just captilised on a golden opportunity to rake in the dollars.. who could blame em ?
results are everything in poker. without them ur busto : )
so for all you lot knocking his questionable plays and ability ... just try matching his wsop record playing ' the right way ' ... good luck with that

Feck me you thieve the mans lap top and then rub his nose in it. This after he has took you under his wing and spent his dough on feeding you. It's widely accepted phil lost to the best 2-7 player in the world just as James lost to the worlds best player of snap. Wink

And I'm a hellmuth fan on this one an although I used to be a JJ fan, the fact that James bord thinks he is a cheat makes me a little suspicious of the whole affair. Fwiw I thought rick ashby should have deserved the win more. I've been a big fan of his since the 80's.

He was UB's main pro for years and years.

UB stole from Hellmuth's fellow poker players and he did nothing about it.

He doesn't deserve anyone's respect.

leaving the UB stuff aside though to say he had "failed" in this event, 2nd, is laughable and does the rest of your arguments no credit.

Just makes you look very one sided. In no way is 2nd in this event anything other than a fine acheivement

Can't knock Hellmuth. Many achievements. Has even got a bobble-head figure on sale for $19.95. A feckin bobble head figure.

That's your viewpoint. Mine was that he failed to win a tourney despite a 3:1 chip lead heads up despite being the self-proclaimed best in the world so lol @ him.

Just like anyone else who has ever represented UB I'm glad he couldn't close it out.

Also, why would you leave the UB stuff aside?

Many HU battles have been lost from a big chip lead. Hardly earth shattering or worth castigating him for

This thread was "Go Hellmuth" someone wishing him luck for the bracelet, hence I can seperate out the UB stuff from the poker achievements

You just sound exceptionally bitter, for no real reason.

The guy has done masses for poker, the image is clearly for promotional reasons (and works spectacularly well). The UB stuff is clearly a major blot, on that we agree

Err.... I'll leave the stuff in bold to speak for itself.

If you truly think I'm in the wrong for disliking someone who represented a company that stole from poker players whilst you support him, I'd suggest it's perhaps you who has your priorities wrong and not me.

I dislike him in the same way as I do Annie Duke, Joe Sebok and anyone else who was stupid enough to either sign for that company or to stay affiliated with it.

Anybody who wishes that man well clearly doesn't care much for those who suffered.

You're very one sided in this, aren't you?

While you can make the argument that Phil ought to have severed ties with UB after the stuff; it doesn't inherently make him guilty of any wrong doing. Better men and women than you or I are paid money by those whose actions are questionable.

It's akin to making the suggestion that anyone affiliated with local government ought to all resign and distance themselves with civic duty because the 'Terrorism Act' erodes further our civil liberties. ( I did struggle for an analogy, here, I admit.)

What Phil has done for the game is unquestionable. He is by far the most well known poker player and despite your personal opinions of the man, is considered to be extremely entertaining. In essence, the perfect ambassador.

As for losing his chip lead? Honestly, he lost it to Juanda in a game that the man specialises in. I don't think Hellmuth ever made claims to being the best 2-7 player in the world.

it's a no limit tournament.  a 3:1 chip lead is only 1 pot away from parity
