Even if he finishes runner up, likely at 4m to 1m down, he'll be leading WSOP Player of the year

Phil Hellmuth Eliminated in 2nd Place ($273,233)
After Eric Rodawig brought it in and Phil Hellmuth completed, Rodawig raised. Hellmuth got it in for 280,000 and Rodawig called.
Rodawig: {A-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}/{3-Clubs} - {2-Spades}{2-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}/{K-Diamonds}
Hellmuth: {J-Clubs}{10-Clubs}/{9-Hearts} - {5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{7-Spades}
Facing Rodawig's two pair, Hellmuth was left with only three outs to keep his hopes for a 12th WSOP bracelet alive. The {J-Hearts} wasn't it, ending Hellmuth's run in second place for the second time this WSOP.

oh jesus all you people who think Helmuths record in NLH tournaments "speaks for itself" is such balls. The guy has probably played the most wsop events + had played for so long before anyone knew that there was even strategy ffs.
Lets see him win a > 1/2k runner NLH tournament nowadays ffs.
how is your dtd deepstack record? you played 19 against a field of 90% idiots who are clueless and should not be allowed to use a knife when eating and yet you still aint made day 2. i can understand a bit of the hate andrew but if it were not for the likes of hellmuth, devilfish, moneymaker et al then we would probably all not be playing.

Hellmuth is nowhere the best in the world at any format of poker, in fact I'd say unfortunatley for him he is an average/slighty below average tourney pro now.
However he put lots of work into his game, grinded and grinded for years and even though it was way easier back then he crushed NLHE tourney poker pretty hard, and despite what people think I believe he is excellent for the game
so lots of respect for him from me.

He's below average amongst the top tier guys I know you have in mind but he'll never be below average in a wsop NL donkament.
