As much as its nice for the player to makes a few $$$$$ on the site, I can't think why any sensible commercial organisation would allow anything other than official sponsors to show advertisements at the table.

Because if that extra money is taken out of the poker economy then it may effect numbers?

Nah, because official sponsors might be reluctant to pay big $$$$ if their brand is watered down on TV by the presence of a bunch of caps etc with random company names on, the fewer the products advertised the higher price can be charged for placement on TV. Its questionable if it would continue to be televised if Harrah's could not attract sponsors to stick their brand on TV.

Or it's simply because Harrah's want all the money themselves? Doubt this is driven by ESPN

Both I would have thought, believe it or not Harrah's do it to make a profit  Roll Eyes  They aren't a charity same as any other business.

Poker players don't have any power compared to 'proper' sportmen

Agree but I'm arguing they should. U seem to be arguing in favour of Harrah's decision which is puzzling

They will get the players regardless and they know it. There are just too many dreamers in the poker world for them to stop playing.........

Your right mate, I'm on the players side obv. I'm just saying how it is and Harrah's know that so they don't need to accommodate players demands. I obv work in a commercial environment with sales and marketing so I just know how this stuff works.

I wouldn't be so sure. The poker economy is shrinking- no doubt about it. With full tilt seemingly gg'd, Black Friday etc etc you may see the product shrink further. Don't see how taking another revenue stream from players is going to help
