Floods

Local Authorities who have no plan to support people whose houses were affected.

Insurance companies who have a massive excess on flood claims.

Nothing you've seen prepares you for the first visit post-flood.

I am beyond angry. Kids went to roundhay park today, my eldest who is 3 was on her scooter.  It's a path that hounds around the park and play area. There is a hole in it that my daughters scooter went over and she broke her tibia. Pot on for 4-6  weeks. It could have been much worse I guess, are the council liable? It's going to cost me over 5oo in nursey charges she won't /cant attend .

I'm pretty sure that potholes on roads, if unrepaired after being reported, create a liability for the council.
Have a look at fixmystreet.com and http://www.leeds.gov.uk/residents/Pages/Faults-with-the-highway.aspx

Hope she heals well and quickly. Did she get a pink pot?

Check any insurance policies you may have - home and contents, car, credit card, bank account, whatever - as many have legal expense insurance included. Call them up and see whether they will put you in touch with (or get them to contact) the solicitors on their accredited panel.

Legal case can be funded through your insurance. Usually better for you than a No Win No Fee although solicitors will advise you on your individual circumstances.

Get photos done and medical records etc if you want to take it further.

Thanks, shes in bed finally asleep. She kept crying when turning over in sleep. Poor thing only got calpol to ease the pain.

My wife was a barrister so when she calms down we look at what to do next legally...holes in path near play area in a park aint great for safety..
