http://www.earth911.com/living/art-entertainment/disney-parks-reduce-waste-by-60-percent-in-2010/

Total waste of about 270,000 tons a year (across all their parks), so food waste could account for 40,000 tons a year.  Which gives a little more modest figure of a little over 100 tons a day.

Yes that sounds more like it but I was watching a news feed about this company who were running an anaerobic digestion plant just on the output from Disney, I did take a double take when they said 40k tons but they definitely did say it.

Pisses me right off that I find myself sharing views with Blair

Absolutely sick of people like Miliband (especially) & Cameron taking UKIP's popular vote as a cue to talk tough on immigration and Europe as though they are any kind of real problem for the country.

What is the point of Miliband/Labour if he/they can't stand up and articulate a convincing and definitive alternate view to a party like UKIP. Ooh, I'm fumming

Obviously they have taken the hint that a significant proportion of the population want immigration controlled better, and no it's not racist to want better controls, ok there are a few wankers out there, but I wish people would stop automatically linking A with B, that's just the card people like to pull because they disagree with people who want tighter immigration.

Earlier in this thread I made a comment where it may have given the impression that I think Tony Blair is anything more than a tosser. I'd like to clarify that statement. He is a tosser, but on the specific issue of the appropriate response to UKIP he is correct. Wink

As for things that piss me off. Nigel Farage, smarmy prick. He can fuck right off and when he's got there he can fuck off some more.

UKIP have got no chance of getting anywhere in a general election, but they are doing a good job of kicking other parties up the arse in terms of what a good proportion of the public think of the current immigration situation. To win the next election the winning party will need to pull their finger out and tighten immigration up in one form or another.

The thing is Woodsey, it's fine to take a simplistic view - see which way the herd is moving and jump in front and say follow me. Also, just cause 30% of a low turnout have some kind of, I think, irrational fear about 'foreigners' doesn't mean I should change my views, I'd rather have an argument about it than go along.

It's harder for leaders to act like leaders and head in a direction about which they have a personal conviction. So, in an idealised way, I expect politicians to show some mettle, integrity, belief and an ability to debate and persuade people towards a more accurate and even handed perspective. Probs a forlorn hope.

Counts for both sides of the argument as well, if some of Farage's people had the integrity to state their views as they actually are then at least we'd all have an honest debate.

Well I think the honest debate is happening more now, it's the people that jump up and down about racism as soon as immigration in mentioned that partly stop that debate happening. I don't really see why it's a simplistic view more than your side of the argument, or why they are a herd and you aren't. The fact is it's an issue that is right as the top of many peoples agenda and they have had enough of the current situation and have voiced their opinion. I hope that Labour and Lib Dems do stand by their convictions actually, if they do they will get battered by the Tories at the next gereral election.
