the mad turk says it all, how can you possibly play against a guy like that, either out in the first hand or he wins ii player.

He's actually a VERY good player, reckless with his betting but impossible to play against (probably why Dave called blind).

Tikay suggests that it was going to be great viewing and that Jesse had said it was an amazing heat and now everyone says that it is one of the best ever all of a sudden. I wonder if we would have seen those comments without the preamble?

It was a great comeback and it was entertaining to see the short stack triumph, but we only see the edited highlights. With where the blinds were at, I am sure the reason Jessse initially stated that it was a great game was because he saw ALL the hands and the effort that went into them. You could see that DC was drained at the end of this.

I don't want to get personal (particularly when we are all meeting up on Saturday) but have we lost the ability to form our own opinions?

I also don't hold with all the criticising of Michael Grecco. When he started out on the TV poker scene around 18 months or so ago, his play and his commentry was truely awful. This is a stigma that he now seems to have been tarnished with (probably part jealousy and part due to being famous for another career first).

More recently both his game and his commentry have vastly improved and I think he deserves recognition for this rather than cyber warriors sticking the boot in. I think he is informed and I certainly prefer his co-commmentating to that of 'Roy the Boy' or some of those mad yanks.

What a fantastic game!

My 9 year old was still up, and he just wouldn't go to bed until it had finished, all he kept saying was "I wish the mad turk would lose".

What's the betting the little sod is on VC with my play chips as soon as my back is turned?

Great viewing and bloody well done DC.

I watched this as well. Really good I thought. But one thing that gets to me is poker commentators. At first it was Jesse May who used to annoy me when he presented Late Night Poker on . The it was Colin Murry( Is that his name?) the Radio guy ( I think that is what he is) who presents the E.P.T events with John Duffie ( I had to turn off the sound on these, even though Duffie is one of my favorite UK players). And now there is Grecco on . I tried a search on google to find out what he has won in the way of poker tournaments, ect. But I could not find much. Does anyone know what he has won?....Is he a useful guy to listen to?......or could he give bad advice to new players to the game?

As per my post above.

Btw I believe that it is Duthie not Duffie. If he is your favourite player, then its worth knowing.

It was a good heat, it would be nice to see all of it though not just highlights. Maybe they can sell the raw footage to the poker channel?
Beppe is entertaining enough and easy on the ears give him a chance i say, I've heard a lot lot worse.
Beppe won the yongstas homegame last time round didn't he? beating the cream of blonde no less!

Greco has really come on a lot. He suffers the broad brush attitude of those against celebs coming onto the scene and taking the limelight. Most of those seem to come from the Hearn stable and tutored by Marty Wilson. However Greco is not  one of those, he has held his own in various UK Comps and, yes, he did do well in the Yongsta's home game, cutting a deal with Womble. Considering the others in the comp that night, such as Elblondie, Kevin O'Connell, Burnley John and Paul Jackson, to name just a few, it was no mean feat.

I have played a fair bit with Micheal and he is not a muppet.

His game is fairly simple but he makes the odd wierd play. i felt i understood his game quite well and i wouldnt call him a fish. We were on the same table during the sheffield main event for a long time and he played a short stack very well and then quickly adapted to a big stack when he managed to treble-up!

He made the final and the next day we played again at Yongsta's home game, again he knew what he was doing. He managed to take a whole pile of chips of Dubai and myself with unusual play of big pairs.

Two players from the 'celeb player' mold stick out too me as actual players. Micheal and Ed Giddins, both deserve to be treated as poker players and not celebs just trying thier hand.

I forgot to add i used to play him in the £30 rebuy at the vic when he first started, he was clearly crap, he has come on leaps and bounds since.

As for people asking to see what he has won, here is his festival record:

Hi all I just wanna add my 2 cents worth,

First off I got a text from El Blondie last night and he's said that it didn't highlight the fact that he had the "mad turk" down to 20% of his starting heads up stack. So the "call blind" was automatic - especially against this player. Jesse May did make out like Dave was slightly insane (probably for TV) and this is not the case.

Dave also said that the programme didn't really do the game justice as three handed they were playing for hours. It was epic as you can imagine from Dave's reaction in the post game interview. I fear we've been slightly robbed by TV editing for time. I usually try not to comment on the overall game as there is so much I know I've missed and I feel this is the case here. How can I judge a 4 or 5 hour game after watching but an hour of it? I think those who were there know how good it was.

Greco's commentary aint bad for a celebrity. He obviously plays a bit. However he's no Roy the Boy and he's no Aces Trumper but I'm sure he'll admit that. Let's go easy on him though eh?

Marty and Greco are both employed by Hearn aren't they?
