as you can see from the pic above he is sandwiched, lugubrious, phlegmatic and weather-beaten, between Pab and Middy
He has about 45,000 which is around 2/3 average, but that's plenty for the old timers. Patience a-go-go

Why do most people playing today look miserable?

I think you'll find that they are actually lugubrious and weather-beaten

Reckon the current chip leader is now Birmingham's finest, Stuart Fox
Must have nearly 300,000
Went to table Yong/Goulder with a good chunk (probably the vanquisher of recently exited Ben Turnstill) then had AA vs Goulder's 10-10 to make further progress

OK bear with me on this one
It gets complicated
Limped pot pre. Bandit Evans on the button, Middy and Daniel Beswick in the blinds
flop
checked round
turn
This turns out to be the mother of all action cards
checked to Evans who leads for 2,000
Before Middy gets the chance to do anything Beswick calls out of turn
Middy decides to raise to 6,500
Beswick has to call this but instead puts in too many chips
He is made to min raise to 11,000
Evans calls this!
Middy then shoves for 65,000 total
Beswick folds having made two errors and done 11,000 or 1/4 of his stack in cold blood
Evans calls, and we suddenly have a 150,000 pot. Evans
Middy
I look several times at all of this trying to transcribe the hand correctly, players round the table peer over at the developing commotion
Middy needs a club then. He bricks the river and leaves, handing Evans a 150,000 stack that will probably last him a week with this structure

Tristan McDonald opens to 3,200 in the cut off
Rob Yong flats on the button
Tim Slater 10,000 in the big blind
McDonald passes
Yong calls
flop
Slater leads for 14,000
Yong wonders out loud whether his Ace is good.
Slater tells him he is miles ahead
Yong calls
turn
Slater immediately shoves his last 45,000 in
Yong tells the table he is only losing to one hand, AK.
"He must have AK here"
Eventually he folds, showing
, lets assume its AQ
Slater flips over
from a considerable height
Rob's hands go onto his head.

Danny Toffel is shortstacked, he opens KK and Mohammed Fatemi calls him in the big blind
flop comes 10 high
All the chips go in with Fatemi having 10-2, that well renowned blind defence hand
A cruel 2 comes on the turn for Toffel to depart, back tmorrow

Flushy and Anon get 200,000 in pre in na hail of 3-4-5-6 bets. Anon at risk
Flushy
Anon
Aces hold and Flushy does about 2/3 of his stack to the Anonymous one, who is taller than Flushy
