I'd like to canvass some opinions please, particularly from those playing in the WSOP biggie...
How would you approach it in the early stages?
very tight? get involved? any adaptations from your normal game?
I won't throw up the standard "would you pass AA pre-flop on the first hand of the WSOP" type discussion question because I think it's dumb, but you get my drift
those that have played it before, does anyone play loose early on?
To give you some context, I won a seat, have no expectation of financial return from the event but due to work/children commitments can only go for the one event
thanks
Yours, dreaming of a Star-studded starting table....

I would play my own game, (such as it is) like any other comp, and I certainly wouldnt pass up a chance to double up early

great advice Reddog. Play your own game, if you normally get involved early then do so. Try and not think about the 6000 players or the 10k buyin or the superstar players. We all start with 10k in chips and we all only get 2 cards each, gl and will see you out there.

No sarcasm whatsover. You should try to play it as if it is your normal game, the first "big tournament" I played in I was bricking it. The more you play the more comfortable you feel but if you try and be anything other than yourself at the table you will come unstuck. You cannot be a rock if you are a shall we say unconventional player and vice versa. Play your natural game! I gave this advice to someone in Monte Carlo the day before the big event as they were looking a little nervous and they went onto to cash and but for an outdraw would have won it imo.

i like that advice, play your own game. IF you got knocked out early, can you imagine the flight home....."I wonder how I would have done if I played my own game...."

Surely 'play your own game' is bad advice if you're rubbish

My advice is, if you're a good player, play you're own game, if you're rubbish, play Doyle Brunson's.
