In a league I have played with the same guys for about ten years the guy that was in front with 2 games to go would win the league for the first time if Bryce Brown doesn't score 28 against him in the Monday night game that week, he does and he loses by 1 point.

The week after it is the last week and he now plays the guy in second, who can now overtake him with a win. The both put up big scores and he loses a heart breaker on Monday night. they actually chopped the league prize money up before the game so he gets about 300 odd quid.

He gets thru the play offs to the final this week and decides to leave Marshawn Lynch out coz of his match up so all the players in the teams will have played before the late game. With under 2mins to go he is 2 in front but the other guy still has the Zona D in play, so even if they get a 1 pt sack or a 2 pt interception he would still win, he also has the safety net of Chicago getting over 300 yards against the Zona D to knock off some more points or Chicago scoring again to also take points off the Zona D. They stall on 297 offensive yards and they choose to kick a fg when miles in front with very little time left.

So the fg will almost certainly win him the title as he will be about 4 in front and The Zona D would need to return the kick off for a td to beat him, unlikely as Chicago will prob squib it. Chicago go for the fg, Zona block it and retrieve the ball, return it up the pitch for a TD and add six points to his oppo's total and he gets beaten 106-102.

He is almost in tears with rage tho top dealing tekkers mean he finished 2nd in the league stage but got half the prize money and they chopped the play off cash too, so he has actually won more cash for not  winning anything than both the guys that won the league and the play offs tho he would happily have won less and got the league and play off title instead. FF is that kind of game.

Things can only go up for me, so I'm IN.

Maybe instead of 2 TEs we can have 1 TE and 1 extra flex?

I'm in too, I liked the format but would prefer 1 TE and no replacement for that position.

Cheers for running it mate, was good fun in that painful FF way.

I hope jek wasn't offended by some of the banter?

I noticed he didn't post for the last couple of months of the season (which seemed a bit weird as he made the Championship game!), so if he didn't like it/understand it, apologise and tell him it was nothing personal!

I like the exact league format we've got.

The one thing which irks me is garbage time scoring.

The most important thing in NFL is winning, and I wonder if there's a position for drafting a head coach in the league? And he gets pts for a win and minus points for a loss.

Could also give points for the team d for inning/losing a game. Maybe even qb?

In for next year, and will move anything to make the draft and try to be competitive

Not as huge fan of 2 TE personally, don't feel the position has the point scoring depth to make all teams competitive

Of course you can try todraft the marquee TE's early, but not everyone can

the spread of point scoring at other positions means you can make up for a wekness at WRetc but in a two TE league its very tricky if you don't get a top 5 TE

thanks for running it, the weekly reports were great

I think this is more down to available time than anything else.  He's in quite a few leagues, some for big money, and is commissioner in a lot of them too so I doubt he has as much time to post as I'd have hoped he would.

I think he catches up at sporadic moments and I know at one point he was skim reading my reports by only reading the bit about his game.

He's a top guy, very intelligent, very competitive (as most of you lot are too, hence the odd clash here and there!)  He can banter with the best of them, so I doubt it was anything more than that.

Definitely, definitely in. Have the bug now!

Maybe not for our league, but are there leagues where we can draft defensive players and they get points for sacks/tackles etc?

yes, I play a league on NFL.com that drafts a linebacker and a defensive line man with this scoring system

Tackle:1 point
Sack:3 points
Defense Interception:4 points
Forced Fumble:2 points
Fumbles Recovery:2 points
Touchdown (Interception return):6 points
Touchdown (Fumble return):6 points
Touchdown (Blocked kick):6 points
Blocked Kick (punt, FG, PAT):2 points
Safety:4 points
10+ Tackles Bonus:3 points

The IDP option is a bit of a specialist tweak and I've tried to keep the league relatively 'standard' in format to make it accessible to newcomers.  As sharplea and Camel have found, it's pretty addictive once you get into it but both probably had reservations at the start of the season.

The Double Roster League I play that Jek runs is a great format, IMO, but I shy away from that for similar reasons as you really need to know the depth charts quite well and a backup RB on a team is a rare commodity in the free agent player pool, which would make it tough for a casual player to get the bug.  The 2nd TE position we played this year gives you an idea of that and, if anything, that's the area that is probably least popular in this league and might need a rethink.

It's all about finding a balance to suit the players we have.  If we get to a point where everyone is a seasoned veteran then those are the start of things we can look at, but my initial aim would be to try to get to a league size of 14, maybe 16, players and that means trying to find a few more newbies for next season.

We're lucky in that this league has a lot of serious NFL bettors playing in it, so there's a wealth of knowledge in the league beyond what you'd typically expect in a UK league.  The flipside is that maybe this discourages a few people who might be interested in giving it a spin from having a go.  I hope not, but I suspect it has an impact.

As for next year, wasnt a huge fan of double TE,  but was still interesting and something different. Would be interested in double QB instead tho?

<Grunch>

Hey Guys,

I'm the Siberian Alcoholics in your Fantasy Football League Extraordinaire. The Sheriff asked me to join as a favor to make sure you had an even number of teams and nobody had to sit out. But I didn't do it as a favor to him. Rather, for the novelty of being the only Yank in FFB full of Brits. Who ever heard of such an outlandish thing.

Good luck to you all, except when you play me. Also, in case it needs to be announced beforehand, I'm in for the larger buy-in.

Taking American money is twice as sweet as taking Horneris money.

Welcome to blonde.

Just been looking back on the thread for the payout info (the plan went badly wrong this season and I actually have to make payment to another manager!)

Looks like Camel was way ahead of us all this season.  He got his trash talk in for the final several months ahead of time!

Hi, would like to be in again next year, apologies for not really making an effort this year but had a lot of other stuff on my plate. Will make more of an effort next year especially as I have really got back into the whole NFL thing this year (the Skins having a couple of promising rookies will do that for you) as well watching my usual college football.
Well done to Mr Camel on you win over Jek, here's hoping the Skins can go one better in the real world.

No problem at all. As Sheriff said, I just became swamped with a bunch of other commitments, so didn't have time to banter as would have been proper.

As far as the team goes, I can't believe this piece of shit squad made it as far as it did. This team was more or less garbage that just got a nice string of lucky breaks/big games. Of course, I've had awesome teams get pwned by variance before, so I guess it all works out. Grats to you Camel on the big win, it's always good to see someone with a healthy enjoyment for the hobby have a good first experience. You should be thoroughly hooked now. Wink

You guys seem like a good group, and if we were ever to meet up, I'd be happy to buy you a beer. Well, except Horneris, he'd have to lick my taint first.

Happy New Year, and best of luck to you all next year.

Your post explaining the priorities of fantasy Football was epic.

Enjoyed your participation, hope you change your mind and find the time to play next season.

We like your money.
