Disagree that you can absolve yourself from blame for this and blame it on the software.
He's still showing as a NE player on the player list, so it should have been obvious that he'd lock with all the other Ne players at kickoff time. Other sites have similar issues showing free agent players rostered to the wrong teams, so it's not an issue specific to Yahoo.
For the sake of the fixture I'm going to unfreeze Wayne from the starting lineup, as it's a no-brainer that no active manager would plan to have a player not rostered to an NFL team in it.
James White is a different matter, as he could have potentially played more snaps than he did, but I don't understand why he'd be in your lineup if you were planning to "sort it all out on Saturday". However, I think he now needs to stay where he is for Week 1.
We had issues with this last season, and it's a enough of a concern that I was considering changing my previous "don't touch" rules for abandoned teams for this season. I was planning to make a post about this, but didn't expect I'd get timed out by a roster issue after the first game of the first gameweek.
I appreciate real-life stuff gets in the way, so I can look for someone to co-manage your team if time is going to be an issue for you (the same applies to any manager in either league who needs it, be it temporary or permanent). I'd prefer to do that then have to keep making retrospective fixes to rosters, which are an absolutely last resort thing for me to do. Ultimately, it not a huge commitment to invest a bit of time once a week on this, but it is a commitment I expect everyone in the league to be making. There'll always be one or two genuine cock-ups in a season (especially if someone gets injured at the 11th hour). In isolation I'd be less concerned about it, but you have previous on this, which is why a few people are expressing frustration already.
For now I'll apply the roster fix and we can all move on.
