Right lets get this back on the road then.
The last couple of weeks I have been rofling around playing a bit of poker and combining it with family, work etc and it is pretty draining tbh.
UKIPT London was a bit of damp squib as having secured what looked like a decent table draw I moved (first of 6 on day 1a) to a table consisting of Robbie Bull, Ludo, Scotty and Elliot Panyi but managed to bust Aces with Aces before we broke and then moved to a table consisting of Bobba, Tom Langley, Dece young guy, Carlo and then eventually Steve Chidwick before another tough table and eventually busting to Robbie with KK v AK just going into the last level.
Edinburgh was next and Pleno was staying in the appt I had booked with Dale at Main event travel and they were actually really good value at £210 each for 5 nights and having not spent much time with Pads was slightly apprehensive (love my own space sometimes tbh) to be sharing a room for 5 nights but we got on great and he is a top bloke and enthusiastic about life/poker as he is on Blonde irl. We started off some rungood by both winning seats to the main in the satty but that was were the comp rungood finished with both day1's blowing out the second more disappointingly where having lost set over gutshot to chip down to 10k and then dbled AK v QQ and finally showing a bluff now we had some chips overcall AKo behind an UTG open to 950 @ 2/400/50 and a further limp as the button had a 100% 3b squeeze on the day and did a similar thing at Southend in the GPS so I was not surprised when he 3b's to 3750 (from 24k ish) and after it folded back to me I 4b to 8900 which after a short dwell he jams and I snap which was met by "S**T" and he flipped 46cc and got there on the turn.
I just sat there impassive as the board ran out as others play never worries/tilts me as they have paid the same money to enter so can do as they wish but as someone who I know plays those events regularly he must realise there are not many hands that I can ever 4b fold vs stacks so seems pretty avg but we move onwards and after dusting off my remaining 18bbs I sat straight in a 50/£1 game £300 deep and 4 hands in hold for a full double up with AA v QQ and ended up leaving the casino at 3.30am winning 2 bi's.
The side events were pretty avg and I made day2 of the £150 side but got looked up after action of utg call, call, call, call, call and I jammed K3hh and 12 bigs from the bb by A8ss and the penultimate limper otb and 13 bigs to exit in 19th place and 11 paid and then in the £50+£25 bounty side event I virtually bubbled against a good friend of mine where I levelled myself with 77 vs his QQ and 1/4 the chips in play (probs my only tez played hand of the weekend) so didnt manage to secure a Scottish flag for the herbiemob.
Landed back at Southend Airport to find Petra, Max and Ivy waiting and Max had bought along his Trunkie suitcase he recently got as they are going to Slovakia for a month to see the outlaws before Christmas next month and he came running upto me and gave me a big hug which made Petra cry a bit and I knew having spoke to her a few times daily that she found it pretty hard with me being away for 5 days so was glad to have me home like I was to be home.
It's the first time I have travelled since Edinburgh at the start of the year and there are no plans till the end of the year to travel as I will get the chance to play some poker in November whilst they are away. I actually really like the travelling side and exploring on off days but Petra still prefers to have her creature comforts at home whilst the kids are young. Whilst there as well as meeting Pads I met "Muckthenuts" Amir who is a top bloke but really loud when drunk! along with some other top people and the atmosphere was really good all around the card room for the whole festival.
I have a big push on at work for a couple of weeks now to the end of the year stuff and then it is all about 2014 which will prove challenging as I am looking to launch a business in January alongside my work and Petra is stepping up the photography at the end of her 9months maternity leave so it will be all hands to the pump...
