Those pics and descriptions were great to read. I love reading about someones expertise in a field you know nothing about yourself.

Thanks

Someone (not mentioning names) stepped on a wasp the other night.  The wasp kicked his arse.  Or toe, as the case may be.

Notice the white speck of paint in the corner?  Turns out I'm not the only one around here who gets paint on their feet.

Just taken possession of 4 Army ration packs to be packed for emergencies, in case due to really bad weather it is safer for Jack and I to remain in situ for a while. It's enough grub for 2 days (and probs more tbh.) Supplied by a good mate of mine along with a few additional items that will come in very handy.

The menus?

Vegetarian all day breakfast

Tuna in Light Mayonnaise

Lamb Tajine (Halal)

Chicken with Dahl (Halal)

Mushroom Omelette

Fruit and Oats snack bar

And some of the old favourites - chocolate bar, boiled sweets and additional "sundries" tea/chocolate drink/coffee/whitener/windproof matches and striker.

How times change.

The Sarge in his day had to do with

Oatmeal block/porage
Compo sausages that where more cereal than meat
Bacon grill, basically a horrible salty packed pork leftovers type block of disgustingness
Beans and Sausage
Processed cheese (again digustingly bad)
Dehydrated egg powder thingy that was just about the worst thing I ever had the misfortune to eat.

But hey, at least the old hard tack biscuits are still there.

Who says the soldiers have it tough these days?   Tongue

Lol, guts like iron you must have Lee. Couldn't eat half the crap in my time, bonus is I retain this slight frame

All 31 maps for the walk printed out twice - once with the route marked on and once without - and laminated back to back.

All packed and ready to go. Train at 12:15 tomorrow getting to St Bees about 15:36, Jack gets there about an hour later.

Tomorrow night will be spent rechecking and probably repacking and transposing info to the main maps we will be using.

Jack and I spoke about this last night, I only carry the one as my right knee is the dodgy one and it helps take the weight off a bit in the steeper climbs. I did also mention I can use it as a weapon as a joke, in reality it can be used for various things including hunting/fishing, basha pole and I'm sure you can think of a few more.
