Hi, I managed to bink a last minute seat into day 2 of the grand prix.

There was this one hand early on, I wanted to share with you, I was not in the hand, but just wanted your thoughts if you think it is the right play?.

Ok, so I have turned up an hr late, and so have no real info on the players @ the table, they all seem friendly and none of them look like they are professional etc.

A guy utg+3 raises up, I think it was 100/200 level, the guy on the button 3 bets, back round to the utg+3 guy who makes another raise, and the guy on the btn jams for 14kish total, the utg guy has around 23k, immediatly announces stuff like "omg, u don't have AA do u? seriously? " blah blah... Now at first I thought he just wanted a bit of 't.v. time, but as the time went on, I actually started to believe this guy, he kept saying, anyone else hischips wd be in quicker than theirs etc, he took 4 mins to think, and folded face up KK, the other guy did not show.

When asked about this, he explained his reasoning was because he had played the same guy the night before, in the sattelite for it, and each time he folded lets say JJ, the jammer wd show QQ, he folded QQ, the jammer showed KK, etc etc.

My question is, do you think this is the correct play, as to how the action has been played out? - Is this a profitable play in the long run, in your opinions?

For me, it seems pretty crazy, I have 23k, the guy has 14k, Even if the deck is that cold, I stand to still have 8kish and a workable stack for the level we are on, could also bink a King if he does have AA, so not drawing dead preflop, but how can u base ur theory on the fact that u were in a sattelite with the guy the night before?, they are played so different imo and also seems like the young kid was just abusing the bubble at the time.

He also stated this "Why would I want to get my money in as a 70/30 favourite, when he could spike an Ace if he has AK"

Anyone else's thought's on this?

If you are going to fold them, certainly don't show it to the table!

The only time I've ever folded face up it was an aerodynamic error.

Why would anyone ever, a) fold kings when even if you up against AA you are still in the tournament

and b) ask to be bluffed for the rest of the tournament.

Why can't I be sat at tables like this?

The guy sat to my left on Saturday told me he'd folded AA to an allin on the first hand at a UKIPT, I wasn't paying a lot of attention at the start of the story so missed the bit where he said which venue, but from other snippets I believe it may well have been Newcastle.

The story went something like this...

"First hand of the UKIPT and this guy has just come back from winning a tournament in Switzerland or somewhere and he's being dragged away from the table to do an interview and he looks at his cards and just jams.
I've paid £500 to enter and driven four hours and I don't want to take the risk of being out on the first hand so I folded"

4betting then folding the second best possible starting hand ever is going to be a tough play to find long term profit in lol

Why would we indeed!!

Live poker people are weird, they like to call with very poor/average hands and love to fold very good hands. That's where the skill is you see Wink

it would help if when you fix my posts you highlight the fixed bit in some way - my eyes aren't as good as they used to be
