I must say I just don't understand this price tonight. I thought the game might have been pick em......maybe at a push Eagles -3. Am I missing a major injury or something??
The Eagles lines have been like this all season. They're being credited for being a far better team than they've shown throughout the season.
I expected there to be an over-reaction after the Dallas game and a -9 line certainly is that. It had drifted in to -7 a couple of days ago but it's back out there again now.
The lines I've seen in recent weeks all make sense only if the Eagles come out and play like the team that they've been hyped up to be. However, apart from last week's game, they've only shown flashes of this through the season and some of the 'other side' has been as inept as many of the bottom feeding teams. In fairness, the defence has looked much better in the last couple of games, particularly against the run, but Forte is still an exceptional talent to try and stop tonight.
Personally, I think a -4/-5 line is about the 'fair' line so there's value taking the Bears, and there's no injuries that I think should be affecting the line to a signficant extent (McCoy had an illness scare in the week but the signs are it's not going to be a factor). If this game was being played at Soldier Field I'd expect us to lose it, or at worst be a pickem game. I'm putting a lot of faith in home field advantage for tonight but I just can't see a -9, no matter how hard I try to justify it.
