One of the great things about the NFL though, a good draft or two, throw some free agency cash at it, some good coaching and you can go 2-14 to 12-4 in two years tops
Only Snyder and Jerry Jones type ineptitude or lack of ambition (Bills, Browns, Jags etc) prevents that possibility

Yes, I think John Fox is madly underrated as a coach after he did all you describe at Carolina, he was one Brady drive away from winning the Superbowl. Getting Denver to the play offs last year after trading their best WR was some achievement too.

Laurent Robinson must think all his birthdays have come at once, that is a truly awful piece of business by the Jaguars.

Looks like Tampa are finally spending some of that huge space they have under the salary cap and have added guard Carl Nicks and cornerback Eric Wright to yesterdays signing of Vincent Jackson
shame for last season's coach really, they went through the season $50m under the cap, tanked, sacked him then decided to spend money
I expect them to draft Trent Richardson the Alabama RB at 4 in the draft and pound him all season behind Nicks and other OL they are signing in free agency
Very interesting free agency this
ready reckoner at

yes Morris can be a bit miffed for sure, tho his determination to 'punish' Blount for not having the blocking power he should have for someone his size was ridic at times. It even got to the stage that the oppo's new it wouldnt be a pass when Blount was in the backfield which made it even harder when they then tried to run it.
He set the tone in that first game v Detroit when Blount spent most of the game on the bench coz they were losing by less than 2 td's. From then on everyone that played them knew that if you got into an early lead you would get one of their best weapons out of the game so in a way Morris did make a rod for his own back.
Morris' problem was that he was too close to his players, but they failed to respond to him when his job was on the line.
They didn't just lose in the final weeks of the season, they achieved college-score losses of a team that had given up. There was no way the coach could survive that, despite all the promise shown in the previous season.

So true. A number 3 WR being paid Number 1 money
He got so many receptions last year because Austin and Bryant were either injured or inconsistent, and often because Romo scrambled for his life and made miracle passes
No one at the Jags is doing that for him!

Manning has turned down the Dolphins
Its between Titans and Broncos
He is working out privately for Elway today.

Good - we haven't mortgaged our entire future for a very slight chance of superbowl.

Miami should get Flynn, Rodgers back up at GB,
Have two good drafts, hopefully
then be in contention. Unlikely to be a one year job

No idea
The fun thing is the team that gets him is guessing too. and so is much of the draft. Educated guesses but no certainties.

But Miami are in the best position to know what they're getting with Flynn, given that their Head Coach was the Packers' OC and has been working with Flynn for the past few seasons.
Miami are the real litmus test for Flynn's chances of getting a big payday. If they don't try to get him, given the coaching link, then the other teams in the frame will surely start to wonder why.
