Game is a $1/$2 at Harrah's, I have about $250. I am SB
Table is fairly loose and lot's of limpers in most pots. One or two slightly aggressive players (but not to the stage where they 3-bet light). All raises are getting called.
There are 3 limpers in front of me and I have pocket fours and also limp (OK or bad?), one of the aggressive players (The BB) then makes it $15, he is playing $500. This is strange as his standard raise has been to $8. Both of the limpers call (they are both playing near enough $200).
Flop is A-4-3 (which is nice for me)
I lead out $25 the BB folds and I get one caller from a player playing $200.
Turn is a 5
I bet $60, he calls.
River is a 10 (there is no flush draw out)
I shove the river
Is the limp/call preflop OK here given the way the table is playing.
NB.
Quite a few of the APAT players thought I played this hand badly
- I disagree but would like to know what you guy's think.
I'd be shocked if you won this hand. Sigh that he has A2
UL.
I did win the hand he mucked after I showed the set. There was some suggestion that this was very lucky considering the way I played the hand,
Some people felt that the flop should be a fold to that raise (which can't be right) and also the river should be a check/call. With the way the play was out there I would really have to disagree. Seems most people here agree with me so happy I was correct.
Absolute nonsense Rod. You played it well.

You mean fold pre-flop? With amount in there, the number of people in the hand, and the stack sizes it's a simple call. Like you've said, with the play out there you're likely to get paid if you hit your set.

Beg the APAT guys who said you played it badly to play in a home game with you 'cos they clearly haven't got a clue.

This.
Played it perfectly. I really don't see what is wrong with it at all. Limped pre with a small pair, called a raise closing the action with good odds, flopped a set and got paid for it as there was no FD and no deuces for villain.

You think it's more likely villain has l/c in ep with AA multliway than A2 ? I'd expect villain to 4b AA here in a 1/2 game.
misread hh, thought pfr just called down a donkbet.

This.
Folding small pairs in this spot is burning money especially when closing the betting.

No you are right. He can't have AA if he would have re-raised pf. The PFR was made by the BB who folded to my lead on the flop? Thats what I was trying to explain anyway, think the hh makes sense, I am not great at writing them up though.

Dont remember you asking me mate, all i would have done is make it a bit bigger on the flop.
Most of the people you were talking to were probably horribly written off at the time!
