20k double chance tonight.

Have already seen someone open to 800 in level one (25/50).

He enjoyed last nights tournament because "it's exciting when the blinds go up fast."

Lol just play one hand turnover and save urself 8 hours....  FFs r these people for real..

It's also exciting to play roulette, but that's not poker either...

It is poker, even if the clock is quicker, it just means you have to adjust.

Ffs, I can't even believe im typing this for people that have been playing more than 5 minutes.

Rarely comment in the Luton thread, however after having just woken up (the reason I have not gone up for a splash around tonight, not the structure) and read the thread, I do feel some of you are being a bit harsh on George.  I think Glenns point about longevity is absolutely fair - however you have got to get a bit of perspective re playing poker at Luton.  It is a place to go an play recreationally now - gone are the days of Luton being the spiritual home of tournaments poker - and there is a lot of competition in London.

I go to Luton for a night out - when I go that's my choice, I don't think you can seriously expect it to meet everybodies needs as a customer; its like asking a clothes shop to meet the needs of M&S, Primark, Next, A&F, Hollister and Paul Smith under one roof not possible.  You can't go into Abercrombie and complain the hoody isn't the same price as Primark and is different in quality.  However - I guess thats where Glenns point i spot on - at least if you stick with something for a while your customers know what to expect and you can attract and keep them.

I genuinely think any changes George makes are done with the best of intent and aimed at getting more players.  Evidence has suggested that higher buy in comps don't work in Luton....so you do have to try and cater to the majority.  I've had a couple of mates up this week who play for fun - and an example of catering is the Fox.  We killed some time and stayed out the bookies and played afternoon comp - horrendous clock, horrendous juice £20+ £5 bounty + £8 juice and it gets over 50 runners a day.  That's what people want, so the Fox provide it and just ensure the environment is good an enjoyable.

The games has changed in UK, and I think Georges comments are spot on - except he is being too polite to his customers.  If you think you have progressed and want to play deepstack poker - go and play decent comps at the £100 level plus, there are plenty available where you get the clock, structure etc you want.  If not, use your better play, adjust and enjoy Luton - surely these people playing "roulette" is a good thing over the long run?.  Or just go and enjoy it as a night out - enjoy it for what it is and focus on whats good about it not whats wrong.

Good luck with the changes George.

If you think you have progressed and want to play deepstack poker...

We haven't and we don't?  That's the point.  Take the massive stacks away, just get a sensible amount of poker out of it, 6-7 hours of poker pillar to post.  The right structure is one that gets 70 runners every night - no question, even if it doesn't suit the purists.  Ideally, from my point of view, it would be great if it got a £3k+ prize pool every night too.

I like the view from the shires Shaun

However, not too keen on reasoning and rational discussion.

Yes, fair enough - I should have said pay for the structure and take your choice - sentiment same though, agree with 70 runners a night and think thats what George is trying to do

£50 Freezeout.

70 runners on a 20 minute clock with 40k per person.

Structure was adjusted slightly from Thursday as we saw firsthand it was a little steep and adjusted accordingly.

Final finished at 4am. I still have three NLH cash games and a dealers choice.

One off? Perhaps. A lot of new faces tonight, though.

Busiest Friday I have seen outside of a festival for over a year.

You da man!

Delighted for you, George.

If I may add one little request - sending results through to Chomps & Co. If you can ensure this is done after EVERY Comp, Chomps, Luther & Co will be able to rev up the Luton thread with their abusive but comedy Reports, & that in itself encourages the blondes to get involved @ Luton. Really, it does make a big difference.

Good luck to you, & well done last night.

I have to say even i am one of the biggest sceptics when coming to this uber stacked comp, however already stated.

68 runners ,struture bang on even for 40k deep and finished around 4am not the 6-7 as some of us predicted.(however if the numbers goto 100 a late one it will be)

Lots of new faces and plenty of donk players.(sighgh as i lose a 220k pot at 300-600)

Deans new nero player finishing 3rd.(naughty boiii)))

Only one thing i'd chage would make it an addon or rebuy for the additional 20k and therfore make the prize pool a changeling one to compete with other venues.

And as already stated 3 holdem cash and dealers that lasted throughout the comp/friday night as i was on all three till 830 this morning, this is what i wont to see a busy and productive cardroom, so i take it back George good job last night.
