November? As in next year?
On a map, it looks like it's
just off the Strip
, but that walk is going to get fairly tiresome if you're heading down the road (your room there to Venetian could be half an hour) and back, and it defeats the object of booking somewhere cheap if you have to get taxis.
For a little bit more, try the Flamingo, which is centre strip but miles cheaper than most. Others on here know more of the ins and outs but that was where I stayed on my first time and it did a great job for what I needed (cheap bed and in the heart of Vegas). Can roll out of bed to some of the softest cash games in town. If you want a beverage or six, the new developments adjoining the hotel have lots of cheap drink bars for the partying sorts.
That side of the road (Harrah's side) is generally cheaper FWIW
Yes next year, is some 1.4 miles from Venetian, thought it might seem like a longer walk in Vegas with all that's going on and such. I'll have a look at the Flamingo. Thanks Tal.

Omm,
Wouldn't even look at booking for next Nov until after next summer. You can always pick up broken flights for around £500 and any of the cheaper strip hotels are fine.
This Nov there was a WSOP Circuit at PH as well as the Deepstack. If you leave it until a couple of weeks later you'll probably get the same again. WSOPC > Deepstacks.

Weather shouldn't be too bad that time of the year (never been then, but I believe it's far more comfortable than in the searing summer heat), so the walks will be fine. From memory, you can basically draw a right angled triangle from your hotel, the flamingo and the Venetian, where your hotel to the Venetian forms the hypotenuse. Not sure whether hotels like The Quad might appeal, a little nearer. Used to be the Imperial Palace, which was a bit...er...minimalist on luxury.

Just looked at The Flaming on Expedia, £850 for 7 nights which s about £680 more than the one in the link, I'ts got to be the very basic u can get to be this price, reviews are of mixed opinions but as I said we just want to get our heads down for a few hours. Mile and half walk doesn't seem too much bother considering the price, just don't want to be killed getting home with all the thousands I'm gonna win.

Fair enough. That's a lot more than it is in, say, February. Not sure whether that's a time of year issue or just that nearer to the date has more offers.
I'll leave it to the more knowledgeable sorts ITT, although Chompy's point is a valid one.

A mile and a half walk? You'll end up taking taxis after the first night when you realise how much of a ballache it is.
November weather is mid late 70's F, but I'd go with the experts and try and get near to Venetian if that's where you decide to play. TI is opposite and might be worth looking at?

Late in with advice, but not saying anything different really but...
Deciding to stay in an ungodly shithole on your first trip is almost always going to be a terrible mistake. Koval, which is only a block east of strip, is not a nice place to walk around. Stick to the strip, until on future trips, you know better.
Rather than say "I'm going to stay at The Whole Year Inn" (for Leaving Las Vegas aficionados..) - what's the best price? Have an open mind to staying at any one of a handful of basic hotels on the strip and then plug in dates to a search and you will often find more reason to stay at The Hole You're In based purely on price. (closing the loop for non LLV aficionados) If you were planning on 3 months out there, then you could look at extended stay places, but strip hotels can be had for $20/night and up. Split 2 ways, there really isn't any need to be more nitty than that on a one week stay.
Now to take a different angle from the other end of the spectrum. I know your remit was cheap as possible, but there are so many false economies involved, so just as an extreme example:
Venetian poker rate = $129 x 5 and $179 x 2. Sounds way out of budget? Well, let's assume you are both beating the game for $15/hour. Saving you both 4 hours of walking each day is good for $120 x 7. Not getting stabbed is probably good for a few $$ on your travel insurance excess too, as well as being far more convenient. Being able to phone down to the poker room and get on lists used to be a great benefit, nowadays people argue that with Bravo, you can phone in from anywhere. Anyone familiar with brushes at Venetian will know that is not necessarily getting you on the list, or on the list for the right game. Staying in the V, being able to drop down to the poker room, quit early if the game is bad, wander down to the poker room and get yourself on a list that is just about to start that you wouldn't have know about on phone-in (such as BigO or a SNG) all means you will spend more time playing poker and less time wishing you hadn't stayed 1.5 miles away. Also ofc you get the super comfortable room, nice pool, all the comforts, which should have some value to you. Even just on flight cost, you are spending $100/day to be in LV after all - may as well spend more time at the tables where you a) make $15/hour and b) want to play poker and much less time walking around and waiting to get into games.
Someone recently asked me about how to walk to Sam's Town. They had a buffet coupon or somesuch which entitled them to a $2 breakfast and they wanted to walk with their wife there. Trying to explain how when it was costing them £2k to be in LV that spending most of the day there was going to set him back £300 chasing that $2 brekafast (not to mention a probably frosty wife) was an interesting experience.
My advice for a first time trip in Nov would be to both put $20 a week into a tin between now and then and stay at the Venetian (if indeed that is where you intend to play) and then inbetween poker sessions, have a look around town so that you understand on future trips which hotels would be ok and which ones wouldn't.

Yeah just follow Simon's advice.
Koval is not a road that I'd enjoy walking down at night.

Sorry all the other advice is fine but don't stay or play at the Venetian - it's run by a hypocritical right wing c***

Hi Omm
I have been several times in Nov. Good time to go as flights and rooms are cheaper and weather is pleasant. Expect it be be around 20 degrees C. Can vary in Nov though between 4oC and 30oC.
Ignore current prices, they are too far out and it is always much cheaper nearer the time. Virgin have flight sales Jan, around easter, and August. I have always booked NOV trips in either April or august.
No matter what you pay in the end, the majority of it will be for the flight. You may not pay much more for a decent hotel on the strip, then some crappy off strip one.
Walking everywhere will piss you off pretty quickly, especially if you are not staying on strip.
If you want to go third party route (and I have usually found it cheaper if you have fixed dates in mind) don't just look at expedia, other providers will often be cheaper. Personally find ebookers cheaper then expedia.
Also, if you are going that route, go through a cashback referral site such as quidco/topcashback. You will get around £100 back ( good to pay the resort fees with!!)
As for poker, the Heartland Poker tour has been to Vegas in Nov the last two years as well
