Is this actually serious and not a wind up?

Is this actually serious and not a wind up?

Yeah, I searched it on the venetian site just in case.

It is all a bit odd, as there is a 52k draw at the end for anyone that plays, but you have to turn up in person on another day to take part.

I imagine it is just going to be a massive fail.  A lot of people will know in advance, and everyone who shows up will be told be other players.   It is clearly possible that this will make it less likely to hit guarantees and those that get ripped off won't show up again.

In addition it took me a while to be sure it wasn't happening in the deepstack extravaganza, so expect others who hear this second hand will get confused and skip the DSE.  It is only a one week series in October but I expect the repercussions will be felt for a long time.

It feels a disastrous idea for the Venetian to me.  Maybe it is a good time to reduce the size of the poker room, and this is as good a way as any of ensuring they don't need the extra capacity?

1. This event is part of the $225,000 Lucky Shot Poker Series & Drawing. For every cumulative $250 in Tournament Entries during the $225,000 Lucky Shot Poker Series & Drawing, each patron earns one (1) Drawing ticket. Drawing to be held at 12:30pm on Sunday October 27, 2019. All Drawing tickets will be distributed October 27, 2019, between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. in The Venetian Poker Room. Participating Grazie Members must claim Drawing tickets in person, and sign confirming receipt of all Drawing tickets. The participants are responsible for immediately placing their Drawing tickets into the Drawing drum. Drawing is subject to the $225,000 Lucky Shot Poker Series and Drawing Rules (Official Rules). Please see Official Rules located at the welcome desk inside The Venetian Poker Room.

So, the prize pool is capped at $150,000, but anyone who buys in gets the excess through a drawing?

Money is not being gobbled up by the house, but going to the players?

I'm less outraged by that.

That's from a 2p2 thread.

Seems a bit dopey, but not as bad as it first looked.

Looks like I'll be playing at Harrahs/Wynn when I'm staying at Palazzo over Xmas.

This isn't how I read it.

I think the prize pool for the draw is $52k exactly regardless of entrants and you get one ticket for the draw for each $250 you put in.

I've not investigated any further, as I'm lazy.

Venetian TD is on Twitter, so no doubt it'll be explained in greater detail at some point.

Probably not the best marketing if punters don't understand what the "offer" is.  Though maybe it is for the best if they are planning to put their grubby fingers in the pot?

I'll have a look on 2p2 next week, as I am sure someone over there will have shredded it completely, so we know the exact coup.

I'm only staying there because I have 3 completely free nights, and $150 in freeplay.

I think I lost about 50 quid in the Palazzoe while I was staying this summer, but had a couple long punting sessions at bowl stakes on the slots Cheesy

They have a circuit festival at Harrahs in Dec, so might have a go at one of those for the first time.

Boski done a bit of a breakdown on it.

Only thing I'll be doing there is eating Cheesy

See if I can punt my way to some free nights at Encore over the summer.

This PocketFives article looks to be a reasonably good explanation of how it all works;

Some decent stuff in this BA sale;

Week at Venetian with return premium economy flights for £1071pp going late January, or £820pp in economy.

That's a lot clearer of an explanation than anything else I've seen. Makes it understandable for simpletons like me, even.

Definitely won't be playing anything there again while they're running those.
