Virgin have already sent out details about their sale until the 25th, but it doesn't include Vegas (other than for March)

The September sale included next summer, so strange that the mail they sent out about this one and site is only for spring to Vegas Sad

Am going late March early April for a stag do n thinking of staying for some Venetian deepstacks, the stag wants to stay at MGM, says it's cheapest on their site, u agree with that Marky or u got any tricks up your sleeve? Have send our FB group (for the stag do) the link to this thread even tho they don't play poker, the info in the OP is great, tx for taking the time to pass it on. I was struggling to think of many bars a group of 30ish year olds would want to meet up in to start the night or during an afternoon, places like The Deuce in Aria and the likes of Nine Fine Irishmen in NYNY, suggestions?

If you give me the exact dates you're going and I'll have a look for you mate. Where has he gone to book the rooms?

Been a while since I went strip crawling, but I'd guess there are plenty of bars in MGM and you've got the Heart Bar in PH next door. MGM has been undergoing renovations since last year and I think they've setup a new lounge bar/nightclub there.

You've got plenty of options all the way up the strip, you could go budget strip crawling from MGM up to Harrahs and there are plenty of bars along there and alternatively you can go the upscale way from City Center through to Caesars Cheesy

Can always do a night on Fremont street, that's like a pub crawl as you can mooch all the way along there and you're never far from a bar. You can walk the length of Fremont in the time it would take you to walk from the MGM to Planet Hollywood at a guess.....

I've never been spring time, but I'm guessing that it's getting to pool weather time then and the MGM has a decent pool (from what I'm told).

Stag is Mar 27th to April 4, tho some are going home 3rd....I'm thinking of staying on and playing some Venetians for a week. Defo like the idea of Fremont, guess I'm forgetting it won't be 100 degrees all the time so walking outside up the strip will be an option for bars. Feel a bit under pressure as most haven't been to Vegas before and wanna see all the best bars n (mid range) restaurants etc etc

Off to Vegas in a month and staying at Grandview at Las Vegas for two weeks. Its a bit out of the vegas hustle and bustle but im easy with that i have got it massivly on the cheap! flights for just under £600 so happy with that also! Anyone stayed here before and know about how much i can expect a taxi to be i believe its about 15 mins in the cab. 7 miles or so from the airport. My plan is to either get there shuttles into town or taxi's i suppose that depends on how the trip is going!

Just checking the Harrahs website you can get (2 sharing)

Flamingo (Deluxe) $624
              (GO)      $828

Ballys (S Tower)   $704

Harrahs (Classic)  $523

PHo  (Hwd Hip)    $914

That's without checking Smartervegas for promo codes which I'll do later on tonight when I have more time.

MGM (Grand Qn)  $740

Same room with a view is $775 and a 'Wellness' room is $915 Cheesy

Recharge. Renew. Refresh The Stay Well room at MGM Grand is the first of its kind in the world. Designed by wellness experts, these rooms provide guests a brand new and unique experience. Featuring 16 elements of health and wellness such as: - Purified air - Circadian rhythm lighting to reduce jet lag - Dawn simulation - Vitamin C infused shower water

Again haven't checked for any rates on those, but the MGM price looks very good to me and will check those later for discounts etc.

Is hiring a car an option, if not are there regular shuttles to the strip?

It's probably going to be a fair bit of cash in cabs otherwise over a 2 week trip m8 and you'd probably have gotten it cheaper overall by staying on the strip.

Just had a quick scout and found this from a review July last year.

'A cab to the strip cost $30 each way, plus tip. Grandview does have a shuttle to the strip, $8 each way. You do have to go on their schedule to their dropoff/pickup points, which was not unreasonable. The shuttle will also take you to the airport for $8, and you need to preschedule. A free shuttle goes several times a week to the grocery store, so make sure you know the times for it. There was a public transportation system bus that ran from the Southpoint, but we never attempted to use it'.

That's the whole review.

Look into car hire, would recommend carhire3000

You will find taxis problematic (they won't want to come out to GrandView to pick you up) but if a cabbie happens to be dropping off as you walk outside, he is going to LOVE taking you to the strip on what would otherwise be dead miles for him.

As Marky says, cabs are going to be expensive, pointlessly so.  So car hire, or shuttle in and shuttle back when you can or cab if you had a decent day or are out late.

Thanks for the advice was going to post up a thread as it is a kinda last minute trip! I have got it on the cheap through my mum and dad. They are doing a trip all around vegas and the coast 3 weeks in total and have booked this place in vegas for 2 weeks. They paid £180 as part of RCI (points sharing system where they trade in there holiday home for a week and get points - Bit sick really as they have traded it in 3 times got a stupid amount of points and only had one lot of guests put through the house!) Basically its going to work out that the 1st week i will have a 2 bed apartment to myself (apparently sleeps Cool and for the 2nd week i will share with the parents! They may have a car so that will be useful will look into the shuttles for the first week! Ive paid £90 for the two weeks so it worked out a lot cheaper than the strip for me and kinda figured first week will be all poker and 2nd week will be more sight seeing with the parents! Interesting it says that you need to pre book the shuttle from the airport i will have to look into that! Need to check when i land and when i can check in etc!

Jeff,
Venetian didn't run the April deepstack stuff last year and not heard anything about them bringing it back this time.

No worries, they're definitely decent and the rooms have only been done recently too, I've just had a look at the codes  here http://www.smartervegas.com/hotels/mgm_grand/promotionalcodes.aspx

The best one is the first link with the code R97455

That gives you the

MGM (Grand Qn)  $672 compared to $740 as standard

Room with a view is $704 with the code instead of $775 without.

A 'Wellness' room is $832 against the standard price of  $915 without code

With that code you can get an Executive Queen Suite for $856 which is a about the size of a Palazzo/Venetian room with the extra sofa area etc.

MGM new nightclub/bar place opened up on NYE I believe, so just missed checking it out.

I was pleasantly surprised by Freemont Street.  From what I understand it has been tidied up alot; there seems to be a good atmosphere down there - especially at Golden Nugget.  That said, it looks more a one day trip/p*ss up kinda thing rather than staying down there.

Yeah, Hakkasan was due to open up NYE, but for whatever reason it was delayed and at present 'Sprin 2013' is all that's written. Hopefully that will mean it is open for when those boys get there as it looked pretty decent.

Prior to this year I had only spent a couple days downtown in 5 trips, but my legs had gotten a lot worse over the first half of 2012 and I intended to play more, so I booked up my whole trip at the Nugget apart from a couple at the Palazzo. That gave me a few option, so I could flit between their and Binions to play without being restricted to the resort I was staying in.

I got a really good rate on the room and in the end about 10 lads from another forum I post on all ended up booking to stay there too over the same few weeks. I was a bit tentative about spending 2 weeks there, as I had previously only walked Fremont street after a few of us went to Firefly for dinner. Whilst doing so you notice that it's full of different and interesting characters to say the least Grin

I think that I only went to the Strip a couple times before I moved there for the last couple days and that was for dinner and to meet up with some other lads I knew who were staying at the Palazzo.

I spent 90% of my 2 weeks downtown and I have to say it was the most memorable and enjoyable trip of the 6 I've had. A few of us would eat dinner most nights at one of the restaurants in the resort, or another nearby casino and then normally retreat to the Centre Bar in the Nugget for a few more. Occasionally a couple of us would mooch along Fremont street of an evening whilst having a few and as you said the atmosphere there is a really good one.

To some it would probably be boring, but I guess I'm getting old and was happy enough sitting at a bar chatting nonsense whilst drinking lots of Vodka Smiley

There were a couple of old guys who worked there, really good fellows who had obviously been around the block. They had both been in Vegas since long before I was born, span some great stories and most importantly were very tolerant of drunken brits Cheesy

Obviously the people you're with make it as much as the where you're staying, but I honestly don't think I will stay on the strip again when I go back to Vegas and all the guys who were there from my forum have said the same thing.
