Vegas Trip Information for anyone looking to go this year.

BOOKED 22 June to 29 June.  Now all I need to do is not go busto before then.

If anyone is interested, Virgin have got Upper flights at £1075 way out and £922 way back on those dates.  That isn't much more than they were charging for premium economy last year.  Hence, it must be a bargain, albeit a very expensive one.   

I wasn't feeling balla enough to book both.  Maybe I'll upgrade if I win next week's GUKPT.

I assume you booked it on the way back?  I know of a few people that have treated themselves on the way out, start the trip in style.  But I'm with Marky on this one, Morale is so high going out I wouldn't mind sitting on the floor.  Even in Upper, I'm generally not in the seat for more than about a third of the time.

However, on the way back, flat bed ftw and wake up to a bacon sarnie an hour outside LGW (semi)refreshed.

I was thinking of trying out Mozen for Sunday Brunch on the 23rd, if any Blondes fancy making up a table then feel free to PM me

For $1500 just take it in cash, not worth getting prepaid card.

Would always recommend booking flight and hotel separately as you can get it comped that way - but if you find a very good deal online for the two then by all means take it.

I would book my flight now too if there aren't any great deals about, as I wouldn't envisage that they're going to be dropping in price between now and your trip.

Yep, booked it on the way back.

Can't commit to Mozen, as want to leave the option to get max possible sleep before the event on day 1.

I am fairly surprised Mozen is so well rated on tripadvisor.  We stayed at the Mandarin Oriental in the first year it opened, and the hotel was very good, with Mozen the only weak spot we experienced.  The service was very good and everything, just some of the food wasn't as special as suggested by the price.  They seemed to be trying to do too much, and be not very good at cooking some of the types of food.  I assume they aren't going to have a specialist sushi chef, specialist chinese chef, specialist indian chef there for the fairly low numbers at each sitting. 

It may well have improved in two years, but I would only eat there if I was staying there. 

If you do fancy a trip to the Mandarin Oriental, I would recommend going for the afternoon tea or a visit to the bar on the 23rd floor instead.

I was particularly targeting the Brunch Sunday menu, where I would hope they were expecting enough traffic to have specialist chefs for each.  Even if not, $35 for unlimited Veuve can't be bad... well I suppose it can be in terms of WSOP preparation..

Will definitely check the bar out though and had the afternoon tea on my to-do list also

The days of Cut and Sushi Samba on alternate nights are over, so it will be a more sensibly budgeted trip this year. I will be playing some cash games too at the Nugget in an attempt to freeroll my tournaments!

You'd have to read into it, but I think they offer a lot more security than picking somewhere up on craigslist etc.

The big problem with Vegas rentals is the number of foreclosures taking place.  That means there is a decent likelihood that the "owner" knows he is in financial trouble, may as well offer out the place for rent, take your deposit etc, despite knowing that there;s a very good chance he won't even own that property by WSOP.  On top of that, there's a non-zero chance he doesn't even own the place and isn't legally entitled to rent it to you!  So defo do your homework.

I've heard other stories of renters backing out when they realise that a bunch of male poker players are going to wreck the place.  I've also heard of stories of renters being gazumped by last minute poker players that are unorganised but offer the renter extra $$  (The renter makes some crap up about a gas leak/structural fault etc and you are out)

For 6+ groups looking for a really swanky place for 2 months, butler/driver included etc, I'm sure there are some high end places out there and that would be a great set up if the price was right.  Unfortunately I've not done that so I don't have any recommends.

The shorter the stay and the more budget-conscious the group is, the more I'd lean towards serviced apartments or even hotels.
