Hope everyone got $ last week  Roll Eyes

Think some of them were 5 years ago now Smiley  Going to have to hope I don't do my nuts at poker and have some left for check out time at the Wynn.  Was thinking it was too expensive when I thought it was 1.3/1.

I got here, but my luggage didn't...

Advise anyone flying out this week, to have some spare clothes in their carry on. I was lucky I had some underwear and socks in mine, but just off to Aria gift shop to buy a couple t-shirts and a pair of shorts Cheesy

Best of luck later on Doobs - I see you bagged a decent stack overnight.

Steve Jelinek and Tikay's pal Leif Force also have very playable stacks with ~200/1300 left.

Ah thanks.   Got about average in the PLO8 with 7 places to the money.  Game has changed a bit with a big blind ante.  It was the same at the Venetian in the $1,000, which definitely felt a bit turbo.  Half hour blinds (venetian) and big blind ante means you can go from a comfy stack to short in no time.  Cashed in that too btw.  Think if I min cash this, I am about breakeven as the first bullet started well, but then went very pearshaped.  I made 3 correct folds then couldn't bring myself to fold 4th time.

Things I have learned.  Think Paris is better than Ballys.  I think it has better ventilation, so isn't nearly as smoky.  Given all the Covid about, then not sure I want to be somewhere with a lot of Covid and bad ventilation.  I literally had people coughing pretty badly next to me on both sides for a time yesterday.  It was day 1 ffs, don't play if coughing like that or at least wear a mask...  I know it could be just the aircon/vegas flu, but..

WSOP cafe is hilariously bad.  Stale food for twice the price as before.  Decent food isn't far away, but with 15 minute breaks and big queues it remains illusive for much of the day.

Registration queues are awful.  Was about an hour for collusus, which seemed reasonable.  One hour 20 for the PLO8, which didn't.  Running a $600 deepstack with re-entries and the 2pm deepstack meant finding a good slot to register was difficult.  And was late in Venetian, so couldn't do it the night before.

I think I have found the best place in the Encore for noise. Got a room right next door to tower suites, and didn't hear the club noise at all at the weekend, and didn't need to pay the $65(!) a night for a room above floor 30.   Not had a bad meal yet, but prices of eating out noticeably up.

Virgin clubhouse was a bit disappointing.  It was lovely, and there is a sofa in the lift; to go one floor!  They managed to cock up 3 things on my food/drink order. I know people make mistakes, but seemed strange in a place like that when I only ordered 5 things.  Fish and Chips a bit underwhelming...  with oven fries?  Whisky selection decent, and wine was decent when it got to me eventually.  Vegetable gyoza also good, seating choices, plane view is solid for plane geeks.  Nice place to spend the hour's delay.

Virgin Upper itself was very good this time.  Seemed to have a decent crew and everything came quickly and was decent.  Would do that again.

Finally, Pads is in the last day of the tag team, so will keep an eye out for him, but we might be in different casinos, so don't know how feasible that is.  Lots of drama in the 50k with Hellmuth doing his best to make poker players look awful again, though Negreanu is giving him a run.

Made the cash Tikay, so I owe you for now.

Ran a bit bad.  Paid the blinds, table broke, paid the blinds.  Big blind ante is so rude.

Still in.  Got a big double up with top set vs 2nd set, and ducked his better low draw to go to 500k.  Then got scooped in a 300k pot.  Just chopped a 800k pot where I had the made top set vs a low draw all in on turn.  Got 4k with nearly 300k up top.

About 400k, which is just below average.

Can see Pads is still in with 2 shortish tables left in the tag team.

43rd(?) for 6177.   With a tip took 6050.   Got quarted twice just before lunch by two players when best hand.  Had about 325k

Then fella 1 above pots from a 400k short stack 85k.  Fella 2 calls from about the same stack.  I have AK?4, suited ace with 230k already in, so shove and get 2 reluctant callers.   Think I am about 50% to triple up vs A234 and A235.  Can't beat a paired 3 on the flop despite a bunch of high cards and no low.

Was really enjoyable with a good bunch of players all day.  need sleep

41% if pokernews is right and they were both double suited.

Win was $6115.   Just checked

https://www.headforpoints.com/2022/06/29/virgin-atlantic-introduces-guaranteed-reward-seat-availabilty-in-all-classes/

Virgin Atlantic has taken the bold move to offer guaranteed reward availability on ALL Virgin Atlantic flights.

Since Virgin Atlantic has smaller cabins than British Airways, and far smaller premium cabins, this is an expensive move which will cost them revenue in peak season. It is the right move, however.

Virgin Atlantic will guarantee 12 award seats per flight

From today – and this will permeate slowly through the booking engine as Wednesday progresses – Virgin Atlantic will guarantee 12 award seats on EVERY Virgin Atlantic flight.

This comprises:

    two seats in Upper Class

    two seats in Premium

    eight seats in Economy

I’d prefer to see four seats in Upper Class – after all, the majority of Virgin Flying Club members with large balances will be older and have families – but this is a massive improvement.

It is especially impressive given how tight Virgin Atlantic reward availability has been over the last few months.

How is this rolling out?

Nothing is ever simple, of course.

Virgin Atlantic has a 331 day booking window (British Airways is 355 days).

From today, every flight which opens up for booking at midnight, 331 days in advance – so from late May 2023 – will have the guaranteed 12 award seats available.

For existing services (ie every flight currently on sale between 29th July, which is the earliest date it will apply, and late May 2023) extra seats will be released during today as long as 12 reward seats have not already been released.

Put another way, today will see the greatest dump of award seats in the history of Virgin Atlantic.

Tremendous stuff David. What a brutal game it is when they both pair the 3 & no low comes. Everything about that sucks.

WP though, terrific news.
