What's the most dangerous place you have been too?

For me it was New York in the early 90's when it had a silly murder rate. I remember shitting myself after arriving at port authority bus station and running the gauntlet the outside, there were lots of police there and they fucking needed them. Not been back since, I need to as I know its nice now.
Didn't even feel that unsafe in Johannesburg which I've been to a few times, albeit not downtown which is the worst bit. Durban was the only place I felt uneasy in South Africa.
Two of my mates got robbed at knife point in Rio by teenage kids in separate unrelated incidents, I think that would make me think twice about going to some of the random places I do at times.

Tooting during the riots. Walking back from Clapham pissed up at 2am sure was a good idea

Probably the home where I now live, another couple of years here and I reckon I'll be in a big wooden box tbh.
Apart from that, there was a nice taxi ride I was on once. I think the fare was about £8, my mate gave the driver the equivalent of a tenner, taxi driver had no change. My mate pointed out the local pub, suggested he get change there, no joy. My mate took reached in his window, took the keys, and promised them back if he got his change.
I'm about 15 feet behind the taxi at this point. A huge big truck pulls up, a guy in military gear gets out and about 10 guys get out of the back, all with AK47s. They form a circle close around me, pointing the guns at my head. The bossman starts explaining the situation, saying that we can't come to Pointe Noire (Congo) and not pay our taxi fare (dawns on me now that we've been set up). I offer to get the keys back, and forget the lost change, and we'll just go. He tells me it's too late, we've committed an offence, we need to get in the back of the truck. I look up to the open area on top of the truck, there are about 4 guys there, they seem to be stooped so I assume they've been chained up in some way. At that time, a couple of frenchies had been shot by the militia and dumped in the middle of nowhere. The price of oil was really low, so no one was getting paid, and everyone was getting pissed off.
The main thing on my mind was not making a sudden move, pretty sure they would have just popped me. I slowly pulled out my wallet and there was a 500 French Franc note there, thank god. I handed it to the bossman and he said things were ok. The guns were dropped, I took my mate and we started heading home.
The bossman turned the truck around and came back and stopped beside us, fml. He got out and asked where we were going, home I replied. 'But you were going to the nightclub, so go to the nightclub, I don't want to spoil your nice evening.' Less of the guns to the head might help.
Was delayed there for another few weeks, transport problems. Girlfriend back home was going nuts. Eventually got sorted with a flight. Remember distinctly the nice feeling of sitting in business class, glass of wine in hand, you know that finally, you're on your way home. The plane starts up, you hear the roar of the engines. Look out of the window, our engine doing nothing. f m l . We sit for another half hour, they can't sort it, everyone out. Finally get a cab into town. Leaving the airport on the way back, see the police walking down the road, great big weapons of some kind in their arms, two guys tied with chains between the front and rear groups of officers, being marched into town. They were taken to the beach just in front of the hotel at 4am and executed. Turns out that they were rebels, and had been found with shoulder-mounted rocket propelled grenades or similar, getting ready to take down our plane as it took off (in an attempt to destabilise the economy, weaken the current government, give the rebels a chance to retake power). One duff engine away from getting blown out of the sky. [ ] Good times.

When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down 'happy'. They told me i didn't understand the assignment, and I told them they didn't understand life.

Bare knuckle boxing match about 5 years ago in Doncaster. Mansfield lad was fighting a young Gypsy fella.
There were about 40 of us walking down a lane which was lined with travellers. It felt like walking a gauntlet.
Ended in a huge fight with armed police, helicopters, the lot!! (I didn't partake in the fighting fwiw)
I miss the good old days
A night out in Cuba was pretty dodgy as well. Not sure where I was but I felt very uncomfortable. Without our local guide we could've had serious problems.

I've been into a few black townships in various parts of South Africa, despite what you may think the parts we went to were all pretty safe. It seems to be assumed they are just unsafe full stop but that's just not the case at all, as with all places you get fairly normal safe parts but the bad parts are very bad in deed, the police don't even go into them.
