How would you feel about playing with a hand chart for the next 2 months? Simply following a pre and post flop hand chart that tells you what to do in every single circumstance with every single hand?

I'm serious though . I have created the chart and other people are using it and winning at nl10. It's unacceptable thy sonebody who puts so much time into poker can't hear micro stakes. It's only yourself lure battling with, don't try to outplay then. You make money in poker by value bet thinly, stealing appropriately not by folding trips and a flush draw when you started the hand with 30bbs!

You really need to stop it, 2012 was funny, good blog etc but you need to man up and just play abc and be the person people are jealous of and look in their diary for inspiration (like Alex) rathe than comig in for a laugh or to see how John black butchered a hand.

with regards to online stuff, I basically am mate..

I've added some steal stuff over the last two days in CO and BTN after what Callum said, but other than that I'm being really good with 'behaving' preflop.

This ridiculous hand was just a live level where I know I'm an Omaha whale, so wanted to make perfect holdem decisions and I just didn't think Jason would be light in this spot.  You're all bitching about how i just folded a 'good' hand.. but isn't anyone even considering the thought process here.  He's a decent player, he knows I'm alright and he is still putting a lot of money in when it looks like I have a good hand.  In my limited experience this has 'more often than not' just been a better hand.

I really like you John, and I think your love for the game is unparalleled, but this is one of the only reasons I look on here.

You keep trying to play like your buyin is a small blind. These people do not understand complex plays, nor do they care. I know for a fact I do this kind of stuff from time to time, but its something I see as a HUGE leak. You have to play at the level you're playing, not the level you're thinking.

yeah i get that.

What I will try to say, which people seem to be missing.

Is even with ALL the spew of the entire time since Sept I'm still winning 1bb/100.  The spew is going day on day, close to gone 9 days out of 10 imo.  My main challenge is doing as little damage to myself on the days I do get overly aggressive or a little overconfident.
All my stats have shifted from 'half good' into the decent ranges, the graph has changed and I've become a more showdown orientated player as I need to be at my stakes.
I always love the game.
I am always willing to listen and put in whatever work is needed.
I am getting there.

So although I appreciate the comments and criticisms, anyone who doesn't recognize the gigantic change in my game, approach and results is just being unfair and close minded.

Please don't confuse this with me not listening or not wanting the help.  I always want the help/ ideas/ criticisms, but tbh I'm a little annoyed at the lack of recognition.  I know I have to play a 'simpler game' and I AM.

If you have one queen, the board has two queens on it, how likely is it he also has a queen?

I mean if his range consists of purely QX hands, fold the flop? Or perhaps look at the ultimate mistake in the hand, we have 30bb and a queen and a 5 suited. We "flick in" 3% of our stack , this is not good poker. I can kinda see where your coming from, but the fact you folded faceup just shows you want to be the sickest mofo in the room and instead of being the guy with all the theoretical $. Stop trying to get people to call you sick, and start grinding the micros and get all the gold. We both know you have it in you. I was in your spot, and still am to some degree, I still do abso idiotic random shit but its literally once a blue moon now. Plus I've got to the level where at least I'm right a lot when I do this sort of shit. The Q5 hand is just terrible. Pre terrible and folding is just mental. Do you really believe you can iron out a players range to only hands that beat you here?

REALLY?

If you can just fuck it move up to where they will respect your raises and get the game won, because I'm going to lose my rather vast quantity of hair tearing it out the next time i hear about you folding trips with a 30big stack. Please just have that epiphany, i read this thread after every update just praying to see you post a monstrous graph of you crushing. Please mate, everyone believes.

John there's a few things wrong here. And much as I enjoy the unhelpful flaming and all the realjohnblacktweets I'd like to think I'm also helpful at times.

You said you sucked at Omaha so you were making sure you played "perfect" Holdem....

Calling preflop is really bad. Like really bad. I make these peels super deep (like 300bbs+) in cash games when monster whales have opened or squeezed in strong positions so have vstrong ranges. Would be c/folding on Qxx most of the time for example, but winning 300bbs with flops like in your hand...

On the flop you said when you call the flop it's "an obvious queen" to Jason. No it's not. It's a pocket pair or ace high to him. Rarely a queen. So ruling out him having a worse hand on the turn is just totally wrong. And don't try and argue that point.

Also, maybe he does have AQ or KQ, you still have 10outs to scoop and a few chop outs. Folding is beyond absurd.

Also I question your reads. You've read him as "not being light preflop" . He's opened 23o! It's clear you've got this read almost as wrong as you can be. Also you read him as "knowing you have a queen but still wanting to bet". And that he'd 100% check AA on the turn.

I know you're just going to say "most of the time he's got me beat, it's just this one time he was at it". But sometimes you can be results orientated and the fact he had 32 just shows how completely off your reads were at every point.

One of the most successful poker players I know said this about this hand "he would've called him down with ace high, he just wants to be the hero all the time". Could you honestly disagree with that? I think it's spot on.

I fold q5 pre cos its a shite hand. However you could of flicked it in with j5. At least you have a chance of shouting "MOWTOWN"! really loudly if you can pair em both up.

Is this a leak? And if it is who gives a shit? Poker can be fun too.

Very nice read this diary by the way. Thanks

I was tired (felt it after not at the time) and above is what I thought at the time.

I forgot to say there was some speech play pre and on the flop.. can't remember what.

Anyways, I'm getting on the grind now.  Then going for my first live session of this year at northampton tonight, it will probably my last for a while.

Alex G is spot on mate. Read his post again and again. Also think his last post is correct. You don't want to win and make money. You want to be the hero of the hour. To have people eulogise over how good you are rather than make money.
