Tis somewhat ridic that anyone would 'leave' because of wording specifically.


There are a whole tranch of words that I would consider offensive that others don't.

There are a whole bunch of words that I use that I am aware that some will find offensive, but i've grown up with them being acceptable and am totally used to using them without considering what i'm saying to be offensive. The offensiveness of words seems to change over time and between generations.

Round here we hear daily the derogatory word for Gypsie to describe any one undesirable. I have used the word a million time since childhood. I used it once on here without realising the offense I caused, was then educated and now won't use the word if I can find a more suitable alternative.

Swap the word "retard" for fishcake, it is much more amusing.

Yeah sort of helps my point by posting. How much work do people have to put in by pming offenders. More people might see my post and think a bit more. I am the worst offender for messing up round here

In all seriousness, people have posted/pmed saying it offends them, and it can't be that hard to find alternatives, we are all relatively intelligent people, I use it in my own social group, as it  wouldn't offend anyone, but here it does, so avoid it. <3

That's my point, i'm never attempting to be rude with my posts, but I have 100% posted multiple times with words that with a seconds thought I should know could offend people. Not once have I intended to offend people, and there will have been multiple times where I posted and wouldn't have had a second thought about what I said and yet still that could easily be found offensive by some.


I don't want to get into some silly conversation along the lines of oh my best friend is black/gay/jehovahs witness or w/e. But suffice it to say I make no exceptions with regards to making jokes or being offensive.  Again I think that is somewhat school related, given that constantly abusing each other was how we spent all our time. 

Think the word fish is different, more a fact of classlessness than offensive. And is in the same category for me as mark/value etc, they are all negative by implication.

Yea, this. I think about what I say on here as I know a lot of things I would say in person/via txt or whatever to friends would cause offence to some people. Takes a bit longer to post but there is always an alternative way of saying something.

Does everyone have that friend that they greet with an expletive? Some people call me pikey as apparently I look like Swanley Joe from one of the gypsie programmes. Fuckers.
