William Hill are best price about almost all the dogs in the Irish Derby field, which I find surprising - how common is it for a firm to do that? In some instances the differences are quite substantial.
It is with WH that I go to to advise another bet in the Irish Derby. I realise I've offered up a number of bets recently so appreciate you may want to leave this one but thought I'd throw it up here anyway. Having watched the majority of the heats there is one dog that sticks out for me at the prices,
Sawpit Sensation
. Hills are
40/1
, with other firms as short as 20/1.
Sawpit Sensation is a slow starting dog who comes from off the pace, the first round performance was exceptional and came from 6th to go past some good dogs before the home straight. The time was a very reasonable, 29:69, with the fastest of the round being 29:51.
Other key pointers:
Has won 16 of 28 races, quite a record for a dog that comes from off the pace.
Only finished outside of the top 3 on 3 occasions.
Holds the Perry Barr 480 track record, sharing it with the 2011 Derby winner Taylor's Sky.
The slightly longer Irish Derby run will suit.
On form, turned over Steel City Cup favourite Boher Paddy last month.
Really like this one. It feels ridiculous me suggesting such small stakes when you are chucking the same amounts on random things (Laudrup) so I will go crazy and suggest £10EW on Sawpit Sensation in the Irish Greyhound Derby @ 40/1 with WH. And if you missed it, I suggested topping up on Tyrur Big Mike too, again with WH.
On paper, that looks a grand bet, thanks.
We are on, £10 EW, Wm Hill, @ 40/1, Sawpit Sensation, Irish Greyhound Derby.
ON
05 Aug 12 /
13:48
Single (EW) 1 Ladbrokes Irish Greyhound Derby – Outright Sawpit Sensation @ 40/1 – £20.00 O/0457483/0000035/F
Will Hill have taken Sawpit Sensation down, your £10EW must have got them thinking. And now Betfred have went 50/1! I promise 40s was the best price earlier, and I know you almost always check.
It was far & away best priced 40/1 when I placed the bet (according to Oddschecker, anyway), which was at 13.48 today.
Lord only knows what happened after!
The worst that can happen is we have dusted off a score.

Tony,
have to be quick mate, have a max bet on Nedzaya Ostapchuck in the Ladies shot putt mate 15/8 top price at the mo but take 6/4 if you have to.
Thanks Phil.
Feeling a shade nitty, so Fred has £100 on Miss Ostapchuk.
Can that REALLY be the name of a shot put person?!
ON
£100 @ 15/8, BetFred, Miss Ostapchuk to win the Olympic Women's Shot Put.
There are possibly some doubts about the fav, we are either on at the right(ish) price in what looks a 2 runner event or we have brill value.
Adams is in.
Good luck us.

Norway's women take on Spain in Handball at 7:30pm.
Nothing rests on this game apart from, perhaps, an advantageous draw in the knock-out stages.
Just as well, Spain lead Norway 22-17 with 10 minutes remaining......

Hunter & Mahan were a 70s cop duo.
Lieutenant Rick Hunter, former Marine, now a hard-hitting member of the NYPD's war on drug crime.
Sergeant Tom Mahan has seen it all before. 35 years in blue but his toughest assignment is keeping Hunter in line.
But if you think Mahan has it hard with Hunter, you try being a bad guy!

Sounds bad, though maybe they played it as a "dead rubber".
Hope springs eternal & all that.......
