FFS, I've lost the plot here.

V O L L E Y B A L L......

Err,, still no idea. Fred never got on, if you refer to Simon Galloway's bet.

Umm, ask easier questions, please.....

No idea.

They beat Spain tonight, & so have reached the knockout stage I think, but our bet was for Top Three. (£40 @ 13/2).

Guess we need to wait for someone who knows what they are talking about, or even Jaffa Cake.
Think we found the guy who doesn't know what he's talking about Smiley

Talking of basketball tho, we've either got proper unlucky, or we've been stitched up by a load of badminton style spaniards. Remember the basis of our bet was that Spain, as world champs, should win this group and Brazil were likely to finish third, thus avoiding the winner of the other group, obv USA, til the final. Therefore they should get a semi final and if they lose that a bronze match, both against teams that aren't USA, to land our coup.

Brazil have played well, winning two, then losing in really ul circumstances to Russia, where they were two up with six second left and some abs bast launched a three while falling over that went in. Still, that wasn't bad for our bet, coz Spain should win the group and we'd be third after Russia. But Russia beat Spain on Saturday meaning they defo win the group, so it was between Spain and Brazil for second n third. Ofc we upset the world champs and beat Spain, meaning we come second in the group and will play USA in the semi should we beat the Argies in the QF.

Just for rubs, Russia lost their last match to no hopers Australia. So that fally over three from Russia (we miss USA too if we come top), plus beating the second best team around tonight (possibly in dodgy circumstances), means we now basically have no chance of a medal. Absolute sigh

Recommend

£11,000 on Wayne Rooney Top Man Utd Goalscorer @ 10/11 (coral)

£1,000 on Javier Hernandez Top Man Utd Goalscorer @ 12/1 (bet365)

If anyone else wins I'll do a video of me cutting off my penis with a blunt knife.

Rooney should be 8/15.

What if they sign a striker? Potentially likely and Rooney gets injured.

Or Rooney gets injured and Hernandez doesn't start?

I guess if they sign Van Persie it could throw a spanner in the works. Probably won't happen though. Even if it did I doubt he would be able to steal penalty duty so would expect Rooney to prevail.

Injuries are a worry in any top goalscorer bet ever but Rooney doesn't strike me as especially injury prone.

Its 2/5 4/9 4/9 10/11. The 10/11 is soooo far out of line.

I know the thread probably won't get on as its 10/11 and a 9 month bet, was just pointing out some world value.

Don't fancy our chances now with the train-stopper on board... Smiley

QFs are on Weds (I have tix to all 4 games) and we got a reasonably safe route to the Semis via Italy - no pushover but can't complain... yet!

Sigh at Coral being the only firm I can't get on with. Outstanding value.

Also sigh that you can't do multiple bets on specials. They are not quite as big but big on Suarez and Torres too, a tasty treble would be ideal (I don't trust Torres but 13/8 is too big).

They did in the euros too, going 15/8 on Ronaldo and 9/4 on Ibra top country gs' which both copped, they love it.

Ivan Dychko @ 6/1 with to win Super-Heavy gold. He has been the most impressive fighter on show by a distance. His footwork and movement are on a different level to the other 3 fighters left. He faces the hype machine that is Joshua next and there is the chance that we will get done in the scorecards but even taking that in to consideration Dychko is way too big at 6/1.

Daily Report as @ 0800, Tuesday August 7th

A very odd day.

We never placed any bets yesterday, & the only bet that came to completion was the Ostapchuk affair.....after some ditherage & bumbleage, the Committee decided the bet should remain with Fred, & duly obliged, £100 @ 15/8. You can't make this stuff up, but it gave us a real fun day in the end. Well done Phil.

Nothing else completed yesterday, but lots of stuff progressed, or not.

In Olympic Basketball, as Jaffa explained with some care last night, it looks like we took a wrong turn, & have ended up in a dark alley, with USA (quoted at 1/25 to win) blocking our progress, so Brazil are out with the washing now. We do NOT need to win Gold, just finish top three, but we have to beat USA to do that, if I read it right. We have £40 @ 13/2, & had it not been for that damn Russian with his lucky three point dink, we'd be in good shape now. But it was, & he did, & we are not.

We managed to swerve the 2nd Test, in which the plan had been to bet AGAINST the draw, which was a highly improbable result. Despite a spirited session after tea on the 5th day, a draw it was. Bullet duly dodged.

Finally, in the Medal Table (we are on 3rd or better, £50 @ 2/1), we maintained our position yesterday.

Country    Total
China 31 19 14 64
United States 29 15 19 63
Great Britain 18 11 11 40
Korea 11 5 6 22
France 8 9 9 26
Russian Fed. 7 17 18 42
Italy 7 6 4 17
  Kazakhstan 6 0 1 7

I'm not entirely sure where the danger to us will come from, but we are not home yet.

That bet was stuck up by Tighty, who, according to Karabiner, & Twitter, fancies his chances at Showjumpring. Here's a sneaky pic iof Tighty practising yesterday.
