On the subject of value..

I myself have back agaisnt barca @1.09 on betfair as i am planning to lay this of after 30 minutes of the game.. Barcalona so far have scored before 30 minutes in 2 games out of 4 so far and i beleieve it will be harder for them to score early in champs league. Therefore i am predicting the price to drift to approx 1.20-1.25 after 30 minutes and then lay it off.

What is peoples view on bets like this in this thread with the wealth of knowledge in here and Tikay are you interested in bets like this as it is something i tend to look for more oftern Laying fav's at short prices.

It does not matter if I am (personally) interested in it or not - if you see something you consider to be value, stick it up, & someone who knows what they are doing (nope, not me....) will advise us.

I don't have the depth of knowledge to do the fancy pants Betfair stuff you are doing tonight, which sounds a bit high risk - low reward to me, but plenty here do, so feel free to post any thoughts or ideas you have.

I think there are spots where trading with a plan like this can be a value way to take a position.  In this case, and I realise I am talking after the event, the game is a draw at and Barca can be layed for 1.22 so it probably didn't pan out.  My biggest problem with strategies like this is that you have to be right about two things....firstly, your estimation that Barca won't score early more than, say, 50% of the time and then secondly, that if they don't the price will be 1.20 to back and I don't have a good grasp on either of them but given Barca closed a 3 goal favourite they definitely score the first goal early a lot and it is very close and, normally, in games like this their goal distribution would be earlier for a big favourite as once they are 2-3 goals up they tend to relax a bit and not score as many later goals.  Secondly, four games is a very poor sample size and they won't have been a 3 goal favourite in those games so they figure, on average, to score later in those games so they probably aren't representative of this game as such.  Added to that the unpredictability of the price movements I am not sure this is something I would go with.  Did you do it and how did it work out
