good day for the Newcastle top 4 bet
Tips for tikay is on that, right?
Very spooky this.
Shortly after you posted that, I was chatting away on a nice table @ DTD, & sat two to my right was the very man who tipped it on this thread, that "Newcastle to finish Top 4" bet - "geordieneal". The price when he tipped it? 11/1. Well done him, & anyone else who got on. I was a non-believer, marv.
To be fair Newcastle have a stinker of a run in; Wigan (A), Chelsea (A), Man Citeh (H), Everton (A). Can't see them doing too well out of that lot, but I couldn't see Wigan beating Manchester United and Arsenal, or QPR beating Arsenal and Liverpool and the Totterningtons so who knows? This season has proven Jimmy Greaves right more than any other.
With this funny old game in mind I'd like to propose a throw away almost nonchalantly placed "who cares it's only money" £20 on Nikica Jelavić to score anytime 90 minutes for Everton against Manchester United @ 7/2.
Everton usually lose without breaking a sweat at Old Trafford and have recently proven how gutless they are losing pathetically in the FA Cup. United haven't conceded a goal I think since February in the Premier League at home and there's no real reason at all to suggest that this fixture will be any different save Nikica Jelavić's recent form which has been excellent.
Therefore in this league of wagering through the looking glass, it's a banker! Get on!
That is THE daftest bet ever seen on this thread, & you have written 3 paragraphs proving how silly it would be, & saying that it has no chance whatsoever.
(Once a week, we are allowed to do daft things. No moaners please, & don't do as I do).
On the flimsy pretence that I beat your price (so I'm 2-1 ahead on recommended prices today) I've just set fire to £20 with Ladbrokes @ 4/1, Jerlavic to miraculously score.

Daily Summary, 7am Monday 22nd April
Silly Sunday
Lost a bit of discipline yesterday, nothing bad, just small bets, but fun, & no great harm messing around for small sums on a Sunday.
The only maximum bet was Bingham (Snooker), which was from a few days ago, & that lost. We have the boy wonder in a single v Maguire, but we are in bad shape.
3 various F1 bets all went south, but I'm glad the F1 lads are here now, adds a nice bit of balance. The next F1 is in May, Barcelona.
We narrowly lost a small RU bet from hector.
We added a nice Boxing bet for next Saturday, from Bazza.
Tighty's cricket bets ended the wrong way, we lost £125 eventually. Never have we had a 4 day bet that swung & swong so much. Personally, I thought it was great fun. I hope Tighty comes up with another batch this week, together with a weather forecast, then we can get the betting experts to devise a punting strategy.
In the eye-watering "how do these things happen" department, WarBwastard came up with quite the daftest bet ever on this thread. It won @ 4/1.
Today?
Nothing yet.
Only one football match tonight (West Ham Leicester).

Read & reap.
This was the bet by WarBwastard on the Man U - Everton game.
It makes, after the event, incredible reading.
Don't know whether to make him an Elder, or ban him.

Whats in the Hopper?
We have this stuff in running, which is, effectively, paid for, so it's almost a freeroll, as we write off the money when its invested.
Barnet, the equivelant of £100 @ 7/1 averaged. The current price is 5/2, so in a way we have "value", but they are 5/2 outsiders of three. (Maccy 1/12, Hereford 1/8, Barnet 5/2).
In horse racing, we have £50 EW @ 12/1 on Trumpet Major in the 2000 Guineas, currently around 10/1.
Cricket (IPL), £25 on Mumbai @ 9/2, which is slightly worse than curently available.
We have a "most 180's" bet in the PL Darts which is showing no sign of a pulse.
£40 on Hawkins v Selby in the snooker @ 7/2.
A "max bet" £100 on "number of frames" in the World Snooker, @ 6/5.
£20 @ 16/1 on the World Snooker "Name the Finalists". (Trump/Selby).
£20 in some BGT TV thing on "Paige Turley" @ 11/1.
£20 @ 4/1 on Boy Wonder v Maguire in the Snooker, which is not in good shape.
Boxing, £30 @ 9/2 on Hopkins v Watson.
Finally, in the "Bag of Bollox" department, £10 @ 12/1 on some doughnut in "The Voice".
We found love in a hopeless place. We found love in a hope-less place......

Remember to lay Miami Heat or the NBA championship as per Jeff's tip..even though the price has come in back San Antonio Spurs to win..their superstars are all playing well and they have won the whole thing together on more than one occasion

Are the odds on Barnet to stay up decent enough to make a bet on them worthwhile?

I asked myself the same question, but I don't really know, have to ask the experts.
Camel would be very cross with us if we effectively hedged, but it did cross my mind. Don't tell him though.

I know it is a very peculiar game, a "one-off", but how often this season have Man Utd been available @ better than 2/1 almost everywhere for a PL game?

Somerset v Lancashire, Taunton, 11:00
Surrey v Durham, The Kia Oval, 11:00
Sussex v Warwickshire, The PROBIZ County Ground, 11:00
Worcestershire v Nottinghamshire, New Road, 11:00
The matches start on Thursday
The weather forecast looks atrocious in the West for Thursday.
Added to that Taunton is a small ground, and a road for batting. Rule that out as a higher probability of a draw than usual
New Road Worcestershire is on a flood plain. Renowned as the wettest, worst draining ground on the circuit. Weather related draw risk too high
That leaves London and Brighton
As the most prolific batsman on the County Circuit of his generation, says
Mark Ramprakash @MarkRamprakash
@tighty Yeah good point! Where is that heavy roller when you need it
So, recommendation to follow on a firmer weather forecast later in the week
Potentially win doubles to cover win permutations for these two games
Prices for the four teams range from Evens to 7/4
The skinnest win double pays 5-1, the largest pays just under 7/1
Is there a better way than laying draws or perming win doubles?

Thanks Tighty.
I prefer the recommend when you include photos of the roller though.
