doral 1st
masters 4th
wentworth 4th
merion dns
muirfield 2nd
firestone 1st
So let me get this straight, we should wait for the weather or not?

Is there room on the spready for some golf bets? Lots of 6 places and even 7 about.
Haha
Was just about to post
After watching old friend Richard Sterne put in some good work at the weekend, I fancied a few bob on him this week, however I want to suggest a bet in the best South African player. As he is currently playing the best of that mob, I suggest 10ew at 7-1 which pays first 2 in a 7 runner field, where I can only see 4 of them in with a chance. At
, it looks a standout with Victor
We are up & running.
We have £25 EW @ 7/1, BetVictor, Richard Sterne, Top South African, USPGA
ON
Top South African PlayerRichard Sterne (EW)(Top Players)Odds: 7/1 Stake: 50.00Possible Return: 283.33
that is half odds 1,2? Please confirm for spreadsheet, thanks
No, ONE THIRD Odds, first two places.
Think we'd be shovelling it on if we could get half odds......

the 3 times he paid out as top south african would have yielded no return in the main market.

Thanks Doobs. The Market recommended was Top South African, do we think he's worth a dabble "outright", too?
Is 125/1, 7 places, marginally better than 150/1, 6 places?

Sterne has been put up by golfpunters (believe he was on the sky poker show tikay?)
a good judge so the top sa bet looks well worth probably a bit more if anything?
He was, yes, & he seemed to be on the ball.
At present, we have £25 EW (£50 Total), and I don't mind investing more, but I'd appeciate a broader range of opinions & feedback first.
Definitely not averse to the bet, or investing more, but just want to be sure we've got it right first.
7/1 does looks a bit of value.
I would however prefer to have double stake to win rather than split it ew with 1/3 first 2 though. If there was one more SA rag then 1/4 first 3 would look nice. So if pressing by £20 have it all to win rather than £10 ew.

Well, we already have £50 on which seems plenty to me. The 150/1 with quarter first 6 went last night
125/1 with 7 places is still a good bet on my maths, just not quite as good as 150/1 with 6 places. Up to you, but maybe a couple of quid each way on the big price, just to avoid kicking yourself.
Joe is right, because the each way terms aren't great, we should have put it on the win. Too late now.
Edit. we now have £75 on!

i have zero clue on golf betting
But it is by far the best price on a seemingly well fancied golfer in a weak looking market
£75 looks fine to me

Have been largely out of action this morning and log in to see Tikay declare he's cocking it up both ways.
I'll see you all tomorrow.

It maybe a cock up from the maths team perspective but from the punters view, I am happy to be aiming at top two to make profit.

Kidderminster Harriers were two points off winning the conference last year, and eventually lost in the play offs over two legs to Wrexham having just failed to overcome Mansfield.
93 points gained over the season despite winning only 3 of their 17 games at the start of the season
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012%E2%80%9313_Football_Conference
They both kept that team from last season and added to it, not with names the thread will be familiar with but Lee Fowler in particular is a good signing for this level
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23345781
Once again Luton are priced as short favourites (cost a lot of football punters a lot of money in ante-posts in this division!) and Forest Green second, both 5-1 or under. Both are no value.
Because both are priced off scratch in handicaps, it skews the spread and gives some value in the rest of the field
For example Kidderminster with a +7 mark can be backed e/w at 18/1.
http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/non-league/conference-premier/handicaps
I prefer this to outright markets for value . Kidderminster are 8/1 outright which only gives 2/1 the place
The Conference is a real mish mash. Money is very very tight, budgets have been cut across the league, some have gone part time. Sides dropping out of the league can really struggle for a while as they adjust.
For a number of teams these handicap markets could be very wrong, ie too optimistic. Kidderminster are one of only a handful of well financed sides that will have a good go at getting straight up. In addition to Luton/Forest Green, Wrexham, Grimsby, possibly Barnet, possibly Cambridge, possibly Chester are the others
Recommendation Kidderminster +7 Handicap 18/1 £20 e/w Football Conference BetVictor
