Further bad news for tikay's pocket; Angelique Kerber lost to Maria-Teresa Torro-Flor, a woman that she beat 6-0, 6-1 six months ago. Ms. Kerber was just decidedly lacklustre.

That is an interestingly constructed word, which our geeky types (Mere, Tal, tighty) might care to discuss.

Ms. Kerber lost because she was lacklustre.

As in, lacking in lust?

Lacklustre is a Shakespearean word

First originated in "As you like it", one of the gentler comedies in the canon.

Literally meant, to "lack luster", or to lack shine (as in a pottery glaze)...and was a tremendous play on words, one of thousands Shakespeare introduced to our everyday verbiage

I so wished it were "lacking in lust".

If Shakespeare had anything about him, he'd have thought of that.

No.

Mere gave us a target price, I missed it, so Fred was not on.

I was, though.....

A total of nine runners have been declared for the Stan James Champion Hurdle with the expected absentees being Annie Power, Un De Sceaux and Thousand Stars.

All three are trained by Willie Mullins who saddles the reigning champion Hurricane Fly who is 3/1 (bet365, Betdaq and 32Red). The New One can also be backed at that price (sportingbet) but is generally 11/4 and 5/2 while Our Conor is 4/1 and My Tent Or Yours 9/2.

I love the word lustrous. I wish they used it more in shampoo adverts, instead of making up rubbish like the "Contains Pro-ShineaholB+, tackling the eight signs of hair weakness and leaving your hair seven times more radiant"

Morning Mr T.

0 oktas and I am thinking of cutting the grass.

In the tennis Nadal won 2-1, and Murray looks again like an upset about to happen.

In today's rugby league there is a great game in prospect when Castleford host Wigan. The Castleford forum is split 50/50 over who will win and that includes a lot of Wigan fans who are not at all confident. I would make Wigan very slight favourites but the 11/5 gives us the required wiggle room. Someone on the forum has also stated that O'Laughlin is out for Wigan which is a huge loss if true.

Suggest £20 Castleford @ 11/5 with betvictor or 2-1 elsewhere.

I would love the Fly to win, but I'm conflicted, because I want to see Mullins get smashed with brick after brick all week!

I suppose that I could live with this being his only winner, but I guess that most of Fred is on Our Conor, so hopefully he'll get the masses weighed in.

Nice start for Mr Nadal.

Nice to see an insight into your research - you are way down there in the West Country, perusing Rugby League Fora for betting clues.

We are on, as directed, with Bet Victor.

I hope all of the Our Connor fanboys have got on with baddies or at least bet EW as that way when The Fly puts him and the rest of them in their place and marks himself down as possibly the greatest 2-mile hurdler of all time you will get your money back.

Hopefully come Tuesday we can back them all.

I really like The New One. I can't be backing Hurricane Fly.
