This hand has got me left me asking some questions (some trying to understand his action, some wondering if I should be making such calls so early in a deep tourney). I typed it all out and then realised its quite big, so will post in 3 pieces after each one has been answered.

OK, its very early in a Stars Deepstack (13 hands). Previously its been my mindset to stay away from these sort of situations and try and find 'a better spot'...HOWEVER, more and more I'm using my HEM in conjunction with what seems to be a really good stove. The results have been mixed, but I'm determined to stick with the change of mindset. That said, this hand has got me wondering if I'm taking it too far!!!

Villain is a winning player. Pre I believe I could facing a squeeze play from:

66+,A4s+,K8s+,Q9s+,J9s+,T9s,A9o+,KTo+,QTo+,JTo

HU it puts me about 70.5 v 29.5, but with all the players that flatted me in the middle I think it made me something like 55% against his 15% (with the rest making up the numbers).

So I raise. Everyone else gets out the way and he calls.

Q1. Does the range I put him on look ok?

Q2. Should I have just chinned off pot control and raised bigger? (I didn't shove as I'm aware AA, KK are in his range)

Is this the tournament with 30 minute levels?

Do you not think this early on you are giving him a bit of a wide squeeze play range?

Yeah for sure he has a much tighter range than you think imo to 3betcall this early

Range is a lottt tighter, but you can beat AK on this board so I prolly call now.

Pretty sure I flat the 3b pre. Leaves villain with a slightly wider range than you know he has now (calling a 4-bet from UTG out of the small, should be a ton stronger than you've given him credit for). Allows you to just play out the streets in position vs a guy who has squeezed. Fwiw i call the shove on the flop, he can have AK, AQs, TT, 88. Seems unlikely he has any 9x hands in his range, Jx is possible, but I think you are good a lot here.

preflop i think you can fold or flat the 3bet and 4betting is the worst option by a mile with no history.

Even in a cash game 250bb's deep it's by no means a mandatory 4bet

Q6. His original squeeze play. Is his hand a good choice for this play?
Q7. Once I 4bet, is he right to carry on?
Q8. Do you think he would have jammed regardless?
Q9. Although he connected, is he right to jam on a paired board?

6 - not really, it's not a bad hand to squeeze equity-wise as a "bluff" but the spot he's chosen is terrible. It's early on in a comp, deep stacks, you've opened UTG, a few callers and his hand plays great multi-way, prolly the easiest flat call he can have considering the stage of the tourney.

7 - no, not at this stage of a tourney. In his defence it's not a huge raise.

8- No, I'd expect him to check/fold or chk/jam(or call of you jam) nearly always

9 - No, jam is terrible you're never folding AA or KK and he has 2 outs vs those hands are it's EXTREMELY likely you have them, if you have AK, you'll likely fold but he beats AK and will defo get a bet off you with that hand somewhere. It's a pretty easy c/f tho considering you're just AA and KK nearly always
