The 2012 World Series of Poker continued on Wednesday with Event #27 $1,500 H.O.R.S.E., which attracted 889 entrants and created a prize pool of $1,200,150. The top 96 players are slated to take home a minimum payday of $2,676, with the eventual winner taking home $267,081.  Other early eliminations included Shaun Deeb, Maxwell Troy, Owais Ahmed, Erick Lindgren, Greg Raymer, James Woods and PokerNews’ own Rich Ryan.

The middle stages of Day 1 were characterized by eliminations as the blinds caught up with the stacks. An extensive list of pros met their end during this time including Daniel Negreanu, Barry Greenstein, Phil Hellmuth, Matt Glantz, Men “The Master” Nguyen and Jonathan Duhamel.

While hundreds fell, some players managed to survive. Tom Schneider (28,300), Marcel Luske (28,900), Linda Johnson (30,500), Eli Elezra (35,500), Christian Harder (37,100), Rep Porter (41,500) and John Monnette (42,000) all advanced to Day 2.

Event 24: $5,000 Omaha Hi-Low Split 8-or-Better
Day 4 completed
Congratulations to Joe Cassidy on Winning Event 24: $5,000 Omaha Hi-Low Split 8-or-Better ($294,777)

Joe Cassidy wins his first World Series of Poker gold bracelet after beating Scotty Nguyen in an epic heads up battle. This event started four days ago with 256 players all gunning for that little piece of poker history, and of course a $294,777 first place prize.

Many greats came to play, and possibly the greatest came very close to winning his ninth bracelet. Phil Ivey couldn't close it out yesterday and found Nguyen and Cassidy battle heads up for the title today. And what a battle it was! Read all about Ivey's fight for number nine in yesterday's recap, as we started this fourth day with just two players.

These were the chip counts going into the final day of play.
Joe Cassidy   3,000,000
Scotty Nguyen   845,000

With this win Joe Cassidy collects his first ever gold bracelet and a $294,777 payday

Event 25: $1,500 Limit Hold'em Shootout
Day 3 completed
Congratulations to Brian Meinders, Winner of Event 25: $1,500 Limit Hold'em Shootout ($116,118)!

Defeat three tables and win a World Series of Poker bracelet. It sounds like an easy task in theory, but 365 people would disagree with you. That being said, one person was able to accomplish what the others could not and accumulate all of the chips on the table three days in a row. Brian Meinders was able to defeat Darin Thomas heads up to take home $116,118 in prize money and his first gold WSOP bracelet.

Despite being one of the smaller buy-in events at the WSOP, this event drew a rather stacked field. Many professionals swarmed to this event with the hopes of being able to attain WSOP glory. Among those to lose to their first table in this event were Joseph Cheong, Barry Shulman, Viktor Blom, Jonathan Little, Phil Hellmuth, Marcel Luske, Maria Ho and many more.

Fifty players were able to earn the title of Day 1 champion and lock up a guaranteed cash of $3,088. Of those fifty, only ten would move on to the final table. Several notable names came close on Day 2, only to fall short of making the prestigious WSOP final table. Greg Mueller, JJ Liu, Scott Seiver, Justin Bonomo, Matt Matros, and Mike Leah were among those to walk away from Event 25 with a min-cash. The ten who did make it on though were guaranteed at least $7,164 and only had to best nine others to attain WSOP immortality.

Event 27: $1,500 H.O.R.S.E.
Day 2 completed
Schwartz Leads After Day 2

Today was Day 2 of the $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. event, numbered 27 on the WSOP schedule this year. A day prior, 889 people turned up with their entry tickets in hand. By the time the clock ticked down through Level 20 tonight, just 18 remained in contention for the title. Ylon Schwartz will take the big stack of 416,000 into tomorrow's finale, and he'll be the betting favorite to capture the top prize of $267,081 and the gold bracelet. Those prizes will be handed out tomorrow.

When the 165 Day 2 starters returned this afternoon, the field still needed to be reduced by almost half to break the money bubble. Some of the notables to drop out empty handed include Alex Bolotin, Jason Mercier, Frank Kassela, Bryan Devonshire, Christian Harder, Marcel Luske, and David Sklansky.

Bryce Yockey, Cliff Josephy, Stephen Chidwick, Zimnan Ziyard, Daniel Idema, Allen Cunningham, Rep Porter, and Chiu round out the list of notables among the 19 who survived this brisk Day 2.

Chidwick in 9th, Ziyard in 14th both with around average stacks

Event 28: $2,500 No-Limit Hold'em - Four-Handed

Day 1 Ends Six Eliminations Off of the Bubble

Ten levels of play are in the books here in Event 28: $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em – Four-Handed, and six of the remaining 86 players will return to Day 2 only to leave empty-handed. Steven Weiss (171,000) and Brian Rast (168,000) most likely won’t bust before the money bubble bursts – they’re our chip leaders.

Event 28 was one of the most anticipated events of the summer, because there has never been a four-max tournament in the history of the World Series of Poker. There were 750 entrants looking to make history as the first four-max bracelet winner ever, and the chips were flying almost immediately. During the first six levels of play, we lost more than two thirds of the field, including Phil Ivey, Jason Mercier, Marvin Rettenmaier, Daniel Negreanu, David Vamplew, Aaron Jones, and the 2009 Main Event Champion Joe Cada.

There are plenty of other notables who will return tomorrow, including Sam Stein (154,200), Tony Dunst (162,800), Darryll Fish (125,700), Joe Tehan (96,600), Lex Veldhuis (102,200), Isaac Haxton (49,500), and Jason Koon (139,000).

With 86 players remaining, we are just six eliminations away from bursting a $4,385 money bubble

Jake Cody has a top 20 stack, Martins Adeinya in too
