Event 30: $1,500 2-7 Draw Lowball
Day 3 completed
Congratulations to Larry Wright, Winner of Event 30: $1,500 2-7 Draw Lowball ($101,975)!

After three fast paced days of No-Limit 2-7 Lowball we’ve got ourselves a winner! Larry Wright defeated a star-studded final table and a total of 284 players in order to claim a World Series Of Poker gold bracelet. After claiming the gold Wright said he had only learned how to play Single Draw four days ago, and accidentally mucked a deuce instead of an ace on day one when he was drawing one card. Wright didn't play as a rookie, and went on a tear today at this amazing final table!

Brandon Cantu got eliminated in second place earning him $63,048 while Larry Wright will walk home with his biggest prize ever, $101,975 and a World Series of Poker gold bracelet

Another heart warming WSOP story

Larry Wright

http://www.wsop.com/news/2012/Jun/3862/LARRY-PLAYS-DEUCE-TO-SEVEN-THE-WRIGHT-WAY.html

"Larry worked most of his life in the trucking business.  He built up a fleet of trucks and specialized in shipping and transportation.  When he turned 60, Larry decided he’d worked long and hard enough.  He’d made enough money to be happy.  So, he decided to give up his successful trucking company.  He sold it.  In fact, he sold it directly to his employees.

For how much?

Try -- $1."

Event 33: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em

Congratulations to Max Steinberg on Winning Event 33: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em

Day three has ended here at the Rio All Suites Hotel and Casino with Max Steinberg being crowned champion of Event 33: No Limit Hold’em. Steinberg bested 2,779 other players and walks away with $440,238. Steinberg will also receive his first World Series of Poker bracelet.

Fourteen people came in today with the aspirations of winning poker’s top prize. The afternoon went quickly with players being eliminated right in the first level of the day. With the elimination of Vincent van der Fluit and Mikhail Timoshin who were each at different tables, but got eliminated at the same time as each other we went straight to our official nine-handed final table. Once the final table was reached the action stayed at the same fast pace with Christopher Shaw being eliminated 20 minutes into the final table.

Soon play slowed down though with the majority of preflop raises stealing the blinds and antes. Eventually though the game sped up and we saw a slew of eliminations; Vitaly Meshcheriakov, Ryan Laplante, David Nicholson, and Joseph Marzicola all dropped off. After some more intense game play Dylan Hortin was knocked-out. The former chip leader continued his aggression and ultimately paid the price for it .

Then it was down to the final three. Matt Stout, Steinberg, and Samuel Gerber. Matt Stout was the first to leave after having a yo-yo of a day finishing in third.

The two remaining players both knew what it was like to be where they were. Both Steinberg and Gerber have been runner ups in WSOP events, and both players did it in the same year. Heads up play began with both players fairly even in chips, but a couple of hands put Steinberg in front, and he was able to ride that all the way to victory.

Event 34: $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha - Six-Handed
Day 2 completed

The World Series of Poker Event 34: $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha - Six-Handed came back today with 72 players all with two aims: to get in the money, and then go on and make a final table. We got to, and burst the bubble, but fell a little short of making the final table.

After 10 levels of play the field was whittled all the way down to 11 players. The player who tops the lot is runaway chip leader from Japan, Naoya Kihara with 1,548,000 chips. He had an incredible day where he busted player after player with huge hands that held, or draws that got there. When there were 24 players left he had more chips than the average player will take forward to tomorrow’s six-handed final table. Did anyone tell him this is a three-day tournament? He ended with around a quarter of the chips in play!

The field was stacked today, and will continue to be so tomorrow. Remember the name Hans Winzeler from last summer? He came second to Jason Mercier in this very tournament, earning $383,075. He’s in a great position to do a repeat, he’ll be hoping for one better though.

Here’s how the final 11 and their chip counts look heading to tomorrow:
Place   Player   Chips
1   Naoya Kihara   1,548,000
2   Tommy Le           965,000
3   Davidi Kitai           789,000
4   Hans Winzeler   613,000
5   Chris De Maci   515,000
6   Dimitar Danchev   469,000
7   Jason DeWitt   465,000
8   Scott Bohlman   397,000
9   Daniel Hindin   211,000
10   Kevin MacPhee   174,000
11   Joseph Cheong   125,000
